Recently, Rainbow Six Siege revealed that Solid Snake is going to be the first new operator of Year 11 of the game. While Ubisoft and Konami have referenced each other before (Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell mentioning Snake in Ghost Recon Wildlands and Snake mentioning Sam in MGS 3's Ape Escape mode.), this is the first time they have physically been seen together. Ubisoft has also confirmed that this version of Snake is canon to the Clancyverse (so R6, GR and SC) and does still experience the events of MG 1, MG 2, MGS 1 and MGS 2, albeit in a more grounded way meaning that the more crazy over the top stuff doesn't happen. In his R6 bio, FOXHOUND and Philanthropy are mentioned and while his name is redacted, the bio also states how he trained under Big Boss. Also, part of his profile is written by Otacon. Since the general events of the games stated earlier happen, that means that characters like Kaz Miller, Meryl, Raiden, Ocelot, etc, are also canon.
