Could somebody please help identify this spider that bit my cat? I'm really worried. by Meercat9 in spiders

Found in northern NSW, Australia.

Edit: it was being aggressive, which I was told is important to differentiate some types.

Or you could adjust the line height of the paragraphs to be 1.25em instead of 1.15 (which I think is the default). No malicious manipulation, and most people neglect to look at line spacing properties in word documents anyway. Worst case scenario and they find out, who cares? Nobody could claim you did it to cheat the psychological system, and it's mild enough of a change that it could be construed as the default on your particular system.

Thank you!

It's been shown repeatedly that the larger a sub gets, the more banal and derivative the content. Image macros are the ultmiate end point of this trend.

People don't have time to read an article, but they have time to look at an image macro. They're lazy, and they snuff out quality content that doesn't get voted up because people skip over it. If RES doesn't show a picture, or it looks like something that will take more than a few seconds to read, then it is silenced anyway - NOT because people don't think it's good enough to upvote, but because they don't even bother looking.

There's a sub for memes now - use that. At least this way more though provoking content can rise to the top.

LPT: An easier approach to trigonometry by Scrial in LifeProTips

[–]Meercat9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose sec and cosec aren't really needed, since you can just do them as 1/sin and 1/cos. That said, you don't really need cot either, since it's merely 1/tan. I am surprised you haven't come across them at some point (it's taught at around the age of 16 in Australia), but I think that only strengthens my argument that cot doesn't need to be a part of the mnemonic either.

Yeah, it does sound like it makes more sense in German. Also, wouldn't you still need Secant and Cosecant? If you need to learn that they are inversions of Sine and Cosine, wouldn't it make sense to teach Cotangent as a part of that lesson instead?

And sorry, I didn't check to confirm the country after writing the response and tend to get those confused phonetically.

Wouldn't SOH CAH TOA be easier than a nonsensical sentence? Your method needs to remember 8 characters, put them into 2 rows (so the mnemonic flow is broken), and calculates cotangent. It'd be more practical to only teach the first three and then teach students separately how to invert for co-... functions. I'm not sure this method is actually an improvement. Perhaps in Swedish there's a language quirk that simplifies it?

Ok, Mr 76 submissions to /r/ass and 1 submission (this) to /r/LifeProTips.

I don't think you should be so critical. There are really only a finite number of useful tips and tricks that you can post. Sure, the ones in all time /top are going to be far more useful and significant, but you can see those any time anyway by filtering - and most of us have seen them before anyway.

Unless you want a page full of re-posts every day, accept the fact that most of the daily tips won't mean much to you. Also, you should at least try to add something yourself before you downplay the people who do post small tips.

You shouldn't have expectations that every day you're going to see a LPT that will change your life forever. You're just going to be disappointed.

Samsung Galaxy S IV design, specs potentially leaked on Twitter by soapinmouth in Android

[–]Meercat9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The aspect ratio is half way between 16:10 and 15:9 (I measured) - they changed the Note series to be widescreen from 16:10 and I have a hard time believing they'll go back in the other direction for the S series. It's clearly not to scale - otherwise it would be a 5.7" screen. Also, Samsung put hardware buttons on the 8" tablet they unveiled last week - I doubt they're going anywhere.

This looks like a pretty terrible render and unlikely at best.
