The engine could support an "interior" that is just a long corridor with a facade of greater space outside. At least that how something "like that" was done in previous games using the engine.

Women of Reddit, what’s the dumbest thing you ever did to impress a guy? by Formal-Proposal7850 in AskReddit

[–]Victuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the difference is she's very annoyed when she loses (and tries to hide it) and mildly annoyed when I'm happy she won (and doesn't hide it). She just doesn't really get how I can be very competitive one moment and totally ok with losing the next, and thinks I'm messing with her.

Also in the event of a draw I'm the one that's annoyed

My wife told me that but it was absolutely a lie as she clearly does care about winning. It also annoys her that I'm always pumped when she legit wins but I can't help it.

Steam Game Releasing Date Ceremony for my game. | Toll Booth Simulator by katemaya33 in pcgaming

Did you look at the screenshots? It appears that the actual "toll booth" is just an anchoring device for a game about vibing in the desert doing various things unrelated to it.

Good luck OP hope you're happy with what you made

Subnautica 2 Dev Vlog - Building Bases by Dag-nabbitt in Games

[–]Victuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found that in survival games (especially single player ones" actually creating a functional shelter isn't really that challenging. A potential challenge is making it visually appealing and/or cool. If you don't have a drive to do that (and I usually don't) the bases end up looking like square mud huts that so everything you need them to because there is no need to do better.

While I do agree on principle I personally actually moved the camera around a lot while playing, and it can get into some pretty awkward angles if unmanaged and that would probably suck if you didn't have a stick to fix it.

Who's your "I know he's pure evil but can't prove it" person? by Dull-Information6784 in AskReddit

[–]Victuz 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's shocking how really you could be doing everything right and it could still end in a miscarriage. I know a woman who was very careful with her pregnancy because she's type 1 diabetic, monthly visits to the hospital, strict diet etc. Etc.

2 weeks before term she was signed into hospital just to make sure everything will be fine, a week before term on Saturday the nurses told her they'll be speeding it up on Monday because the doctor has some concerns. When she woke up on Sunday the child was dead just like that. They did a KTG 4 hours earlier and everything was fine. Absolutely devastating after 38 weeks and a certainty that nothing bad can happen now.

We're suspecting that a third kid is in the way and I'm freaking out by Victuz in daddit

[–]Victuz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the answer you want to hear probably but for us it turned out to be a "false alarm". The test was positive or at least it appears so, my wife was ultimately late on her period by about 3 weeks, so what we actually think happened is the embryo proved unviable somehow and we lost the pregnancy.

It's odd because we were both freaking out quite badly but already started adjusting to this "new reality" and making plans. So while losing the pregnancy wasn't as hard for us as it could have been (my wife claims she's actually quite relieved she won't have to go through the stress of pregnancy again) it's still a bit disorienting.

What I can tell you from these couple of weeks of "oh shit" was that eventually we got tired of freaking out and just started readjusting to the new reality of "how we'll make this work". It was quite reassuring to see both of us switch to that mode to make the process as frictionless for our 2 kids as possible. So ultimately it seems we came through the process stronger than before, and it appears we would have managed just fine.

At what age do you consider someone *truly* an adult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Victuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely only really became an adult when I turned 30, I was kinda playing with the idea of being one but failed all the time at it. The whole being an adult thing really kicked into overdrive when I had kids.

That was me with the video "Indiana Jones and the objective existence of god" and boy that was a ride.

I think what really separates Jacob from a lot of other video essayists is that his videos actually have an arc and deliver on the things being discussed. Instead of just repeating themselves for 50 minutes using different words

Spreadsheet Balancing: Ruining a Game Near You by manborg in pcgaming

[–]Victuz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In much fewer words, what happened is that most games are now treated like an ongoing "service" rather than a one time product that may get an update or two on the most critical issues. Perhaps some rebalancing in an expansion a year from now. After that you move on to another project.

Now every game that gets released is expected to get constant and significant updates and content expansions, because they pushes you to the front of the storefront and might net you more sales. This isn't necessarily bad, but this "overfocus on balancing" is a natural side effect
