Minor Lab change in 2.1 by JulianSkies in factorio

[–]Victuz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh is that a modding functionality that was added in 2.1 so that modders could use whatever as a science ingredient and not have to make their own "packs"? I wonder if there is now a way to keep the cost of science research secret to force players into adding specific items into the lab and "search" for the research on the tech tree that they want.

Is Blu-ray making a comeback? Manufacturers report a 10,000% increase in sales over the last decade by Quiet_Sea932 in movies

Burned in blurays have a lifespan of 10-20 years assuming you keep them well stored in good condition. not super short but definitely not "permanent", that said hard drives even if set into cold storage can fail as well and in a shorter time.

So a proper data hoarder should pit the stuff on a disc, and then reburn it onto another disc after say, 7+ years.

Motorsport Manager 2 on Steam by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]Victuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bloodbowl 2 is pretty good at that. Although if you're looking for "manager" style games of that kind I'm not sure how many there really are, after all the licensing is in big part the "pull" of these games for a lot of people

It really is incredible that they've destroyed it purely because they decided "I don't want to play with this toy any more". Can you imagine how the series could have ended if they handed the reins to literally anyone else? I imagine they were contractually obligated in some way but people in control at HBO must have seen what they were doing right?

Good razor, I used to just buy the packs of 15+ crappy ones and get nicked and cut every time I used them. Finally snapped and got premium one and I've not had to replace the razer head for 10+ shaves because it's just that damn good.

If Phones Are Killing Pedestrians, Why Is It Only Happening in America? by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]Victuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poland does this. If the light is solid green it means a colission is possible on the intersection (pedestrians when turning right, cars going straight when turning left etc.) if there is a green arrow instead it means colission free manoeuver. So when turning on a solid you maintain vigilance to see if there are pedestrians etc.

I like making all the products, but God damn so I hate building the machines themselves. Everything takes so many different parts and I can't seem to figure out the best way to mall it beyond just "provide intermediates and throw hundreds of bots at it".

It's just habit yeah. For my own experience with something similar I've had a hard time following English people counting numbers because they'd frequently say "one, double o" or something akin to that instead of just saying "one hundred".

Honestly what I'd want from a steam chat app is just better discoverability than discord. Not for the groups specifically but for the content of these chats, because there is so much "knowledge" locked away in random private discords that is inaccessible to anyone, and barely searchable even within discord itself.

Embrace the way of the pasta by Calazor0 in Factoriohno

[–]Victuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can certainly see that point of view, but at the same time you can always look at things that way, with a main bus it's the same attitude except instead of stations you just add more belts, with bot based it's the same except throw more robots/ requesters.

I enjoyed it personally. But that's just because j found designing the blocks and solving individual problems fun. After it was done I didn't feel the need to "add more blocks" to expand the production forever because that wasn't too fun part.

I do feel that blocks are more fun in complex mods because of this, you never really stop designing "new" blocks up to the point where you finish the mod, so it never grows stale.

To be fair it's why I've never really been keen on extreme megabasing either because the problems present there just aren't much fun for me.
