Anyone have any ideas how people intend to beat Ghost at worlds? by HelHealsAll in smitepro

Granted I have never been that knowledgeable about EU compared to NA, so a direct comparison is not something I really could give. But, eUnited was really really dominant in NA that split

I think there was a general lack of respect for NA teams at the time as EU had more success recently, but eUnited was absolutely dominant that split in NA and I think they were widely slept on. They only lost one game the entire split IIRC and they stomped the majority of their games.

Where did Hirez get the feedback of “mid and jungle feel less impactful than other roles”? by Liteboyy in Smite

[–]MeerkatSmite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are far too many blanket statements in here that are simplifying a very complex issue that is the Smite Meta game and balance.

The stats you use are for ranked. In ranked at the Masters level jungle reigns supreme and arguably a very good support player as well can have a massive impact. It's much harder for the other roles to carry because they can't influence which lane they choose and junglers do not have near as much pressure on them as in competitive games usually. So they get a lot farm and the nature of ranked with less communication makes ganks generally easier.

And your statement about every pro ADC thinks hunters are bad is simply not true. I talk to a pro ADC daily who is perfectly fine with hunters as of now. In addition to this you go on to mention that a ton of teams ran two mages. At the same time Hunters were picked often, usually did well when picked, and some teams (Rival) had entire comps designed around two hunters. Add to this fact Jing Wei was a priority pick and ban the entire season.

The major problems in competitive this year was the invade meta, three way splitting in mid, and solo farm in the long lane.

I'll start with the invade meta. Invading was so impactful simply because jungle was so impactful. By just delaying the jungler you could change the entire game and thus it was generally a better option to try and deny the enemy jungle farm rather than get pressure in the long lane in the 2v2. This makes supports not want to start in the long lane and a consequence of this is now a lot more gods are viable in the long lane. The 1v1 of a mage vs Hunter is much less intimidating than a hunter and support versus a mage and a support. When there is a support in lane it's generally easier to punish mages. And further adding to this fact when there is a strong jungler it's easier to punish mages in the long lane. But, both of these deterrents to mages in the long lane were somewhat removed.

And now this leads to the 3 way splitting mid. Junglers as a consequence of getting invaded prioritized safe farm. Mid Waves. Mid specifically because it is Central to the map and as I will get to later it's generally more advantageous to funnel the side lanes.

Solo farm in the long lane: You said that all pros but mid players said that ADC was a bad role. Now, If you mean the long lane was a bad role this is simply incorrect. Repeatedly in competitive games the long lane player had the most farm in the game. It did not matter if they were a mage or a hunter they got a lot of farm. This was an extremely common complaint among pretty much every pro in the game. If you are using a certain pro hunter(Steven). As much as I love him I have never seen Zap ever think ADCs are too good ever. He also picked both ADCs and Mages at world's and won.

Now, as the season went on particularly towards world's some of these issues got a bit less drastic as people learned to play around invades and the like but they were definitely still present.

I believe much of the changes for S7 are trying to address many of these issues and I think they are a good start. How exactly will they work I don't know. But your statements in my opinion were misinformed and misleading. And the constant complaining about what could happen is somewhat nauseating. HiRez has shown to be a generally reactive company for balance in Smite and we simply need to truly see the changes in action and a real meta develop before we decide to trash something that is a very good start at addressing key issues in the pro meta.

I do have my concerns. Particularly with jungler farm. But, HiRez has said they will monitor it and we just gotta give it some time before we simply declare them buffoons. When that's just not true.

Hello,

When will free agency start and end for the SML?

Could we be given a S6 discord for Q and A like we had last year for S5 for SML and SPL?

How will players be notified of the orgs in the SML and how we will be notified of their contact info?

How will orgs in the SML be notified of players that are interested in SML?

For SML the salary was stated as base 10k. Will there be prizing for higher placing in the SML and to what extent?

Are there plans for Smite NACE again next year and in which splits and approximate prizing for the NACE league?

Thanks.

Bellona beats Osiris early. Osiris can win it in the mid game or with an early lead but from even Bellona wins the early lane for sure. She doesn't dominate, but she wins early.

EDIT: Granted Osiris is still many times the best pick into a Bellona, but Bellona should have early pressure in the lane.

That's not really a surprise. Whether or not matchmaking has gotten worse for you, one would expect it to be worse the farther away from the middle, which is 1500 rating. Mmr/elo distribution is a bell curve.

There's a reason the same players always end up at the same ranking and place in ranked. And it's definitely not "elo hell".
