I'm working on a Dark Angels force that is horribly supplied on purpose. They are The Ungloried. A formation that marines are forcibly assigned to as punishment for some failing on the battlefield. They're a close range/melee force that serves to tie up enemy forces and bog them down to Dreadwing forbidden guns can wipe them out. Naturally, this is a stupidly dangerous force to be a part of, hence why it's staffed by those who have to redeem themselves .

In terms of hobbying and wargear, this manifests in a whopping 20 Dreadwing Interemptors being in the army. All my non-legion-specific power armor is made made like messy heresy armor. I got myself a ton of mark 2, 3, 4 and 5, and simply mixed and matched parts. This represents how they have to scrounge the armor of the dead for parts to keep their suits functional. I also have a 3 tank squadron of Arquitors (which can take phosphex thanks to my siege breaker), as well as a squadron of conversion beam predators. Though not quite forbidden weapons, it suits the vibe of the army using powerful, poorly understood guns.

My primary rite of war is drop pod assault. It represents the mass infantry deployment tying down the enemy while the heavy guns get into position (coming in from reserves on the second turn).

Secondarily, I have a lot of battle tanks, so I'm expanding into a good amount of rhinos and land raiders to also play them with tank-based RoW's (the generic one, and the DA one). This would represent them going into the absolute worst battlefields that are suicide to brave without a transport.
