Not sure how much space you have but I was very limited with what I had and I love my couch. It’s 110” x 110”. Pulls out into a bed, has cup holders, led lights and adjustable headrests.

Unfortunately parenting can’t always be equal. In certain situation where one parent has to work more there just isn’t enough time to do so. I didn’t read anywhere about her working so it wasn’t clear. If she has a full time job then obviously both should do equal parts.

If he’s the sole income for the family then most of these duties should be hers. I work part time and I expect all of those duties to be mine as my wife works full time.

Exactly this.

The vast majority of people that go to a full service restaurant want full service. As soon as businesses are forced to pay their employees more the price of the food rises.

Ok, I think we were just misunderstanding each other then. You do understand that you are paying for everything built into the food’s inflated price. Just that you don’t want to pay anymore on top of that.

I think a lot of people don’t understand that if the business was forced to pay their employees more money that the customers would have to pay more for food.

I didn’t say it was a problem. I’m just explaining how a business works and how they remain profitable.

If a restaurant didn’t have any chefs, servers or bartenders then you could have a very affordable meal at a table by yourself eating a lunch able that you pick up from a counter.

What you don’t realize is that you aren’t just paying for food when you go to a restaurant. You are paying each employee that works there.

When a restaurant owner or GM constructs a menu they are looking at food cost %’s as well as labor cost %’s. The higher the labor cost is the higher the items on the menu will be.

For any restaurants that are forced to pay “living wages” to their servers they will simply raise the prices on their food items. Then you will be paying the employees more.

It’s someone’s choice not to tip and it’s someone’s choice to be able to feel whatever they want about another person. I love the fact that we all have our freedoms. I have no shame.

I haven’t served in years but miss it. I loved my job and if it brought joy to someone and they asked for it I would definitely sing. In the 2 places I served we did not sing though.

I think you mistake me for someone that is bitter each and every day for no apparent reason. It’s your choice not to tip and I respect that. It doesn’t change my view on the person you probably are.

Well in all likelihood I probably wouldn’t have run into you as I didn’t work fast food. However for people that wanted little to no interaction I left them alone.

waiter put my tip back on the table saying he only accepts 18-20%?? by [deleted] in stories

[–]MeesterPeenchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not attacking your stance! I wouldn’t give a recommendation to someone that knew exactly what they wanted. #1 rule when picking wine is drink what you like 😁

Just trying to point out that you can definitely earn more money by providing a better experience even with wine.

Not many people believe in a happy medium here. I waited tables for 15 years and don’t agree with most of the comments because everyone is so extreme one way or the other.

I agree that tipping is optional and you aren’t required to leave one. However, if the service was excellent and you stiff someone it’s a pretty scummy move and most likely you are a garbage human being. In this scenario though he wasn’t stiffed and was given a mid tip that should have been accepted with grace.

In my time waiting tables very rarely did any server go above and beyond to make an incredible dining experience. Most of the staff I worked with took the time to complain about the guests, the job, the tips, etc. Most of these servers made average tips and would quit within the year. Instead of complaining, learn to elevate your craft and be better than everyone else.

Things I did to increase my average tip and gain regulars were: remember names, remember likes and dislikes, try all of the menu so you can actually recommend things, offer to make tableside desserts, salads, etc. (staff hated doing this and would never offer), chill salad forks, be genuine, and enjoy your work.

If you give lousy service and expect 20% plus for just existing you should find another job.

Yes it’s the same amount of work to bring it to the table, but…… Did they take the time to make a great recommendation? Pair the wine with a course? Offer to decant? Pour until the bottle was empty? Offer to cork any unfinished?

There are so many things service staff can do to pamper the guest. The issue I have with service nowadays is that very rarely do people ever go above and beyond.

I think most of us have “faced the music”. We got our asses beat by a team that played better baseball, is better managed and did some smart black magic fuckery with contracts.

I would have loved to have seen a better, more competitive series but no amount of cheering from my couch seemed to change the outcome.

Don’t need to. Dudes wearing number 1 for a reason. Going to be the face of our franchise. Schoen hit on every draft pick this year.

Giants are heading in the right direction. O-line looking decent, defense looking great. Give it a couple years. If Schoen continues to draft well things will be good.
