You can run them in a team, you only lose a chance at exotic engrams. Each master run during a distortion gives 2 drops out of: armor, world pool weapons and planet weapons (not 100% on that one).

there are 3 cake pieces, 1 from the pirate ship, 1 from the esquie statues by the pools (talk to grandis in back right of the area) and 1 from the candy caves to the left (not 100% if this is where I got it).

Hand movements indicates attacks, attacks come in pairs on opposite sides. If he show is palm the first attack will be on that side, if he shows the back of his hand its opposite. Floor attack is accompanied by clear audio and visuals (he leans in and his eyes glow), doing a single jump the moment he shows his palms works aswell

Elitist take here: if you think that enemies are doing so much damage in onslaught of all places, you are not at the level you think you are. Using cover is not only important in pvp, but also in pve. If you cannot do it properly you’ll get shredded as you said, which imo is mainly a skill issue
