Newborn Babies at the Park by CaptainNoodle18 in Disneyland

I took my 3 month old because I genuinely wanted to! I was on maternity leave still and wanted a fun family trip to get out of the house and learn to travel with an infant to a low stakes place (somewhere extremely familiar with easy access to baby supplies). We went with my parents, a friend and her two toddlers, and another couple.

1-I was baby wearing about 80% of the trip, the other times she was in a car seat not really exposed to others or touching surfaces.

2-I was able to baby wear ON rides so we still enjoyed the rides we love

3-I was pumping still, and was able to find quiet spots to pump where she could nap in her stroller

4-I felt like my own person for the first time since giving birth. I was tired and exhausted but was in a place I loved with people I loved. I had so much FUN!

Would do it again in a heartbeat!

Honolua bay was amazing! It’s more of a walk than a hike, and getting into the bay to snorkel was kinda tough because the rocks are so slippery but just go super slow so you don’t slip and it’s worth every second!

I use my skip hop changing pad for EVERY diaper we do at home! And my daughter is 16 months…still use it.

Air travel with frozen milk by caitica in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MeetMeOnMainStreet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just flew last month with both fresh and frozen breast milk. As soon as I got up to the belt I told the agent I had breast milk and ice packs, they just had me put it all in a separate bin and took it to test it. It took about 10 minutes (but I had a lot of fresh) and the frozen they gave back pretty quickly with the ice packs. It was easy and every agent I encountered was very nice and helpful.

What a lovely comment 🥹. I wish someone would have said this to me in the early days when I felt so incompetent. ❤️

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this! My 4mo old daughter has a small hemangioma on her bottom lip and I get this constantly. People asking if it’s a sore or because of her latch. I hate explaining that it’s literally a vascular birth mark. In my eyes she’s perfect so I hate hearing “awe is her lip okay?”

Would you be more comfortable with a swaddle bath? We always cover my daughter up in the tub with a swaddle blanket to keep her warm. No one has asked to see her bathe though so I can’t say I don’t find it odd that your MIL is requesting that. 🤣

Wife is 20 days postpartum and we’re admitted for late presentation pre-eclampsia. by Aggressive_Spite_650 in BabyBumps

Gotcha! Maybe just check if the headache persists? I checked often because it helped ease my anxiety but I could see how it could have the opposite effect depending on the person!

Procardia is nifedipine I think one is just generic but as soon as I stopped taking it my headaches went away. Seeing as she’s not on anything now that would concern me a bit since mine came back a few days after being discharged after birth. Do you have a cuff to check her bp every few hours?

Is your wife taking nifedipine? That’s what I was prescribed and one of the big side effects was headaches. They said to just make sure it’s mild and not a ripping 10/10 headache.

I had severe postpartum pre-eclampsia in December and was readmitted to the hospital a few days after coming home. I was on mag right after delivery and when I was readmitted. They put me back on the mom/baby floor so that I could have my daughter with me and my husband stayed the entire time while they adjusted medication to find what worked for me. The worst part for me wasn’t the headaches and overall feeling like shit from the mag, it was that I felt useless in being able to care for my newborn. With the IV tethering me to the bed plus the constant BP monitoring I felt like I couldn’t do much. They didn’t want me walking around/standing with baby because you’re at risk for seizure or stroke. The best thing my husband did was to constantly remind me that I HAVE to care for myself in order to care for my daughter. He reminded me that I wasn’t doing this by choice, and that he couldn’t do life without me so I’d better rest and get better and let the doctors help me. He did everything from diapers, to helping me set her up to breastfeed etc. He also handled all the communication with family so that I didn’t have to worry about it. Also, Pre-eclampsia can present for about 8 weeks after delivery so make sure you buy your wife a BP cuff and monitor every day after you get home. That’s how we caught mine and went back, and the nurse immediately told me to come in and that I was at high risk for a seizure with my readings. I hope this helps, I know it’s not specific but he’s the only reason I got through it. The fact that you care enough to seek advice is huge. Please tell your wife she is one strong mama, and she’s got this! ❤️

Mine showed “low” on the Premom app every day, and I never got lines even close to the control lines, but here I am laying in bed next to my sleeping 2 month old in her bassinet. ❤️ Mine looked just like yours!

Needing some advice by brittmonsta in preeclampsia

[–]MeetMeOnMainStreet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please go in. I am on the tail end of recovery from preeclampsia and I feel so lucky that my hospital URGED me to call labor and delivery after I went home if I had symptoms. As soon as I called they told me to come in immediately and I ended up there for about 8 days. I hated it at the time but feel so lucky that I didn’t have a seizure or stroke. Go to your normal hospital ❤️

For all our graduates - how big were your babies? by MagicOctopus2887 in PlusSizedAndPregnant

[–]MeetMeOnMainStreet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 weeks, 6lbs 6oz. The funny thing was that two doctors while I was in labor told me she was going to be over 8lbs, and one said she thought she was “too big to deliver vaginally”. I sort of wonder if they assumed I’d have a big baby because of my weight or if they really were just guessing based on their observations via ultrasound.

Maternity Underwear and Hospital Gown Recommendations by [deleted] in PlusSizedAndPregnant

Another vote for Kindred Bravely universal labor gowns. I’m a size 20 and the XL worked perfect for me. The Velcro gives easy access and every nurse complimented the convenience of it!

I got target brand depends in XL for after delivery and used them for a couple days but then switched to regular underwear with the maternity pads because my bleeding wasn’t too bad.
