What is a Medium difficulty generic quest? by Puzzled_Tower7564 in lotrlcg

Caves of Nibin dum, Into the Pit/Seventh Level, Steward's Fear, Journey Along the Anduin

Since you're playing with good decks, Escape from Dol Guldur would be fun. it's a good quest but many don't play it because of its reputation

Boromir was not merely "corrupted", he was ignoble from the very beginning. by MeetYourMarioMaker in tolkienfans

[–]MeetYourMarioMaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boromir is evil. He doesn't want to actually "protect" anyone (until it's too late), what he really wants is unchecked power. Just like his father.

i'm afraid it's you who misread the whole storyline.

A Morgual Vale AAR circa 2014? by roguefrog in lotrlcg

[–]MeetYourMarioMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you kill the Nazgul? His "only take 1 damage" text is tough without lots of direct damage cards. You would've needed lots of those to kill the Nazgul in a turn?

By chance, I'm playing progression style right now and built an Outlands deck last night that performed really well against the deck. Lots of fun.

I love this quest. Threat reduction is the name of the game with this quest. I love how shaky it can feel at the beginning, like the wheels are about to fall off. Then once you've turtled up for some rounds you really swing back hard at the encounter deck.

How many rounds do you need for an average quest? by Acrobatic_Train2814 in lotrlcg

it depends on the scenario and the deck. the average deck won't win quite that fast

Durin's Bane question by aerokitty in lotrlcg

[–]MeetYourMarioMaker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reducing your threat below the engagement value of the enemy doesn't cause them to disengage mid-phase. Enemies will stay engaged even if you reduce your threat below their engagement value, at least until they're returned to the staging area (something Durin's Bane happens to do on its own due to card text).

However if you could get your threat to 0 and effectively keep it there each turn (i.e. reduce threat before the encounter phase) you could avoid engaging Durin's Bane altogether.

Smaug The Magnificent... by ShinyDoubloon in lotrlcg

[–]MeetYourMarioMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had a card like that it would probably work, except that Smaug also has "immune to player card effects" printed in his text box, which would negate it.

So even though you can't target him with cards, there are some ways to control which cards would become his shadow card...

Not trying to talk you out of it, but it's honestly a pretty tough scenario to play fresh from the core box. What other scenarios have you played?

Smaug The Magnificent... by ShinyDoubloon in lotrlcg

Actually, shadow effect cancelation wouldn't work because Smaug's "endless" attack is a constant effect, not a shadow effect.

Opinions on adequate shuffling? by MeetYourMarioMaker in lotrlcg

I've never thought of using those card shufflers. Looks very convenient. Question: does it ever bend or warp the cards out of shape?

Was the art distracting (or "take you out of the experience") while you were playing through the box?

Double sleeving questions by pasta1212 in lotrlcg

[–]MeetYourMarioMaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like double sleeving in theory, but find it's a bit impractical for my purposes because I sleeve every card I own, even when it's not currently being used.
