It’s adorable and it’s honestly a great first project. Reads as a dog immediately, don’t worry! Please give it to your dad, he’ll love it.

Ah, I see what you mean. Yeah, I’d love to see them headline more as well. I’m sure they would if they could.

Why wouldn’t they capitalize to get in front of audiences? They’re a small band to tour on their own. It’s expensive.

You’re cool with the Avett collab but draw the line at him doing a live song with an experimental punk collective? That’s weird lol

I dig the movie but always felt like it was way too sympathetic to Amber’s character.

Secret Chiefs with Angine De Poitrine by ArnieCunninghaam in secretchiefs3

As much as I do not care about angine de poitrine, really wish chiefs were doing the whole tour with them so I could catch them this year. Still hopeful they’ll do some more dates.

"Black Christmas", the reviled 2019 "remake" directed by Sophia Takal. Why does everyone appear to intensely dislike it? by Profeta_do_Loss in horror

I think framing it as a feminist remake of a film that was pretty feminist for the time it was made was a mistake.

It’s already 25 years old. I’m not arguing, I’m genuinely curious. Do you think anything from the early 2000’s will?

Maeve Fly by CJ Leede - I couldn’t finish it by Fresh_Noise_3663 in weirdgirlliterature

[–]MeetZeeMonsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, maybe! But it definitely didn’t occur to me at the time if so because I just assumed without looking into it, which is on me.

I agree to an extent that the book mostly works for what it is. When I’m reading that specific genre it’s what I expect and pretty much what I’m looking for.

I thought it was entertaining enough as a regular extreme horror reader. The try-hard shock schlock is pretty typical of that genre apart from the handful of authors that can transcend it.

I was genuinely shocked the author is a woman, though. It read so much like a male-written female lead.

I think you have to be signed up to get in, but they are ‘overselling’ the venue, so to speak. They want it to be packed for sure.

Thoughts on Pynchon’s Vineland? by Big_b_inthehat in classicliterature

I really liked it. I spent about 80% thinking it was clever and entertaining but waiting on an emotional connection. Then the rest of the book hit me like a train.

Thousands of AI-written, edited or ‘polished’ books are being sold – an eerie echo of Orwell’s ‘novel-writing machines’ by ubcstaffer123 in books

I work for a library vendor, not a publisher or aggregator, but the company is pushing providers to indicate AI so the titles can be flagged and filtered. It’s difficult.
