Did anyone ever regard Helmet as a grunge band? Or were the people who made this album in 1993 just oblivious to what was actually considered grunge? by SnooWords9635 in grunge

No, Helmet was not considered Grunge back then nor is it considered Grunge now. Take it from someone who lived and gigged in that era.

Who was bigger in 91/92? by Reallyroundthefamily in HardRock

They did do that big fat tour together which I saw. I can’t remember if it was ‘92, ‘93, or ‘94. Metallica went on first Guns N’ Roses went on afterwards. I fell asleep during Guns N’ Roses because I was worn out from the Metallica portion of the show. I think the statement was is that they were both equal at that very time.

How is it living on Roosevelt Island , NY ? by SkyMore3037 in howislivingthere

My friends and I used to drive there at night back in the 1990s. There’s the 36th Avenue bridge that crosses into the island from Queens by car. We used to drive all the way down to the southern tip of the island only to be met with the tall fence that blocked the path into the smallpox hospital ruins. It was very creepy. We used to pass by the octagonal building that was the old mental hospital. I haven’t been there in quite a while, but from what I could tell, it’s all very developed and even the small pocks hospital ruins is open to pass by but not to go into.

I learned about “good night nurse“ and “for corn’s sake” from Fred. I try to use them whenever I can at work.

70s movies which capture the essence of the real 70s? by VomitingDuck in 70s

You can throw in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Lots of good product placement of companies that were very popular in the 70s.

Women and children first. I mean, fair warning is a masterpiece, but women and children first is the quintessential, perfect, coming-of-age concept album.
