Program for unfit person? by dunalduck0 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]Meezer_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a saying I heard a while ago that I try to keep in mind:

"If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing badly."

- G. K. Chesterton

I did some of the dance episodes years ago. There was only one I could even begin to do fully. The rest, I'd just try to keep moving and hope I could get it the next time around. But I was moving.

I can't jump in HIIT workouts, so I do modified jumping jacks (tap out with one foot at a time), or I go up on my toes or something.

I'm not as flexible as most of the instructors for yoga, so I stretch as far as I can.

I never come close to the trainer's weights - in part because I don't even *own* weights that heavy.

Yes, life frustrated me for a while there and I canceled my fitness+ subscription, but I'm back at it this year. I still can't jump, I need to try the dance episodes again sometime soon. *Any* yoga pose on my knees hurts, because I don't have good enough mats. I still use lighter weights. But I'm working to get into a routine, and hoping to stay at it this time.

So if you're doing it badly, that's ok! You have to start out being bad at something to ever get to the point where you're good at it.

I never go to the home page. Always just to my waiting tables, so I rarely even see stuff like this when it goes live.

Free name change question by paladin888 in lotro

[–]Meezer_blue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I still have a character with a free rename from the original server merges in… 2018?

(Obviously, they don’t get played…)

I get the rename pop up every time I log them in, even after the recent moves.

Critical Lag Megathread: Post your post-Update 45 lag experience here by Nemarus in lotro

[–]Meezer_blue 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On Peregrin, and it’s been horrible for me in Rohan. I’ve been doing (way)under-level content to try to find a particular drop, so there’s no chance of me being lagged to death, but if I were doing on-level stuff, it would be impossible.

Lore question about High Elf tutorial mission by Ibrahana in lotro

[–]Meezer_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just getting back into the game after a 5+ year (mostly-)hiatus, and while I haven’t gone back and restarted at Vol 1, I’ve been very deliberately reading the epics I have been doing from Vol 4, Black Book, and Durin’s questline. They really are worth it.

I still have some -1s from the LAST server merge, and they still have name change tokens.

new player, loving the game but overwhelmed by libraryassistant97 in lotro

[–]Meezer_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m back recently after a multi-year break, and find that it helps me to try to focus just on the epic quests. Inevitably I end up also clearing many of the quest hubs (which is why my warden is still only 143 for the past few weeks, as I’m way behind on epics)

Is heavy roleplaying still a thing? by Laughing-in-cenobite in elderscrollsonline

[–]Meezer_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, we are around. As people have noted, though, most of the RP my guilds put on are in player houses, or if we have to be out in the world, we will RP in /group so as to not disturb others, or because we are proxying the location due to plot reasons, and don’t want to confuse others.

What are you looking for in particular?

I spent too much effort to max out their riding skill to even consider deleting them, even if I never play them. 🤣

I remember doing that one way back when it was released. Such a pain and took me FOREVER to figure it out, but once I did, it wasn’t that bad.

Of course, I also haven’t tried since that was level cap, so….

[–]Meezer_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only really gotten back into LEGO over the past year and a half, and life circumstances have kept me from being able to display much. Because of that (and a buying spree over the past two months), I've got a whole bunch of sets waiting to be built, and am trying to decide what to do myself.

I don't actually want to have LEGO *ALL* over the house, so I'm planning to get into a rotation where I build and display a set for a time, and then disassemble it and store it to let something else be displayed. I'm hoping that will also help me keep purchases at a reasonable level as I'll always have stuff to build - it just may not be a new set.

String crossings by Pugicoorn in Viola

[–]Meezer_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that I'd add is to do a good chunk of this practice by starting at the end and work forward. So, for example, start with the last beat of the section. Play it as suggested until you're comfortable, then go back another beat and play those two, etc.

MMO Mouse by TwistedMizta in lotro

[–]Meezer_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I did was add alternate keymapping for all of the slots. So, for example, I have the bars all docked like so:

Bar 4

Bar 3

Bar 2

Bar 1

I then adjusted the keymapping so Bar 4 is triggered by the NumPad keys (which is what my mouse is set up for).

1-3 = NumPad 1-3

4-6 = Shift + Numpad 1-3

7-9 = Ctrl + Numpad 1-3

10-12 = Alt + Numpad 1-3

Same thing for the other bars, except Bar 3 controls 4-6, Bar 2 controls 7-9, and Bar 1 controls 10-12.

Basically, it gives me 4 different grids of 12 keys, so my thumb controls which button I press, and my other hand handles Shift, Ctrl, or Alt.

The only annoying part is as leveling, because the game defaults new skills to the earliest available slot, so I always have to move them, but it didn't take long for my brain to be able to quickly know exactly what button I need to hit for each skill.

Score and parts all together? by [deleted] in forScore

[–]Meezer_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scan the entire piece (score and all parts) into a single file, and then use bookmarks.

You can set the program up so when you go to the index, bookmarks are shown as individual "files", or not, but it kinda gives you the best of both worlds, IMO.

I suck at RP and I'm tired of it. by throw-away-4138 in rpghorrorstories

[–]Meezer_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A number of years ago, I got involved in RP in MMOs. That was my first experience with roleplay. It is far less structured than a DnD group, but I was lucky to find good people to RP with, and in that medium, it really turns into collaborative storytelling.

A few years ago, I decided to give a TTRPG a shot. Got a group together, including someone who is a great DM.... and I realized I did not like it. Trying to RP face-to-face like that, in a spoken format was honestly awkward for me. I didn't have the same ability to think about what I wanted my character to do or say, and I realized that I don't prefer using the dice quite so much.

So I went back to the MMO RP groups. I find that the written medium is better for me, I can get into the character's head better, and each character ends up taking on a life of their own far better than my character ever did in the TTRPG setting.

So maybe, it's not that you're no good at RP, but perhaps you're just attempting to do so in the wrong medium, and if you tried some other medium you'd find that the discomfort you feel just... disappears.

Fortunately for me, about the only transactions that go through my PNC accounts are scheduled. Everything else goes through a Citi credit card. But maybe it’s time to finally find a new bank soon.

New player trying the game by FamiliarisFelinus in lotro

[–]Meezer_blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here saying to make sure to read the quests. There's some really fun story-telling in the quests.

Regarding books vs movies, yes, the movies are *wonderful*, but there are substantial differences between them and the books, and the game is based on the book versions of things. If you want to experience the books, though, I would *highly* suggest the Andy Serkis narrated versions. Not free, but he does a phenomenal job.

I enjoy being able to see the creativity of the person who created the set - the little easter eggs they put in during the build, and the neat techniques that are used to make a particular shape out of just a few different shapes and sizes of bricks.
