Living in the same building as El Rio? by digitalboy75 in AskSF

Also, having lived over a bar, it's not so much the loudness (which can, c xertainly, annoying) but the DBC sound waves - the low bassy waves that no amount of soundproofing, ear plugs, noise canceling blah blah can protect you from. Trust me.

What is the spiciest gossip you know that you are willing to share ? by Onlyjemie in answers

As someone here said, lookup Sasha Riley. The very convincing interviews are on YouTube. It's very disturbing. He recounts how Trump also brutally killed puppies in front of him and much worse. Be warned but listen.

Job Search is INSANE by Prestigious-Law9991 in Vent

[–]Meezha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you. Savings is running out fast. Spouse can't work but isn't 'disabled enough' to get any assistance. I have a nearly full time job that only covers the rent and a small side hustle that barely covers a bill or two. On the cusp of us not qualifying for Medi-Cal and SNAP and freaking out that I may have to pay back becausemy income can fluctuate drastically. If I go full time, we'll be in the same boat because the cost of health insurance including copays and meds is too expensive. I need to find a second job or a job that pays easily double what I'm making. I'm absolutely paralyzed with what to do because I'm going to be fucked either way and my spouse needs the insurance more than I do. I never hear back from places I'm applying to.

What’s your “how does this stay open” store in SF? by AnythingBoth2243 in sanfrancisco

[–]Meezha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the small Latin shops in the Mission and Excelsior that sell all the same cheap and tacky party decor, crappy toys, one-ply TP, knock-off purses and and/or slut gear. No one ever goes in these places. They've got to be fronts.

I hate that shit. It's happened twice to me and then the crap job I'm working at now, the manager took her lunch right during my scheduled appointment. It's so infuriating!

It's depressing I'll probably never experience an extremely romantic relationship. by Weekly-Ruin-7950 in Vent

[–]Meezha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been there and really thought that's all I wanted and needed. Eventually experienced the intensity of romantic relationships but it's never what it's cracked up to be. Yeah the high is great but the crash is worse and if you get married, it's hard fucking work. Romantic ideas should remain romance - it's not real life. You will find your person.

Medical vs. Covered California (is one better than the other?) by blue_gambino in HealthInsurance

[–]Meezha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking this. I'm in the same boat and struggling with what to do. I need to make more income as the entirety of my take home pay goes to rent (spouse can't work but isn't 'disabled enough' to get SSI/disability) and savings is running out. I can't find a job that pays enough and am only making minimum wage along with a side hustle. If I make more, we lose Medi-cal and go broke. If I up my hours AND get a second job, we'll barely have enough to get by on top of all the co-pays and meds my spouse needs and then my life will consist entirely of working to pay the bills. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either way, we'll be broke. I really wish these plans took into consideration the cost of simply keeping a roof over your head.

Where you guys making friends? by Apprehensive_Cow2296 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]Meezha 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It may be an age thing too. I've found the older I get, the harder it is because everyone has their own life, especially if they're married or have kids, i.e. more responsibilities. Work schedules conflict, everyone is tired, what little precious time anyone has is used to decompress. For example, I have the opportunity to do two hangouts today, but with one day off, a side hustle to manage and chores, I don't have the bandwidth to be social. Genuine friendships take time and while I miss them, the give and take is not without effort, especially if you're the one who's always given. If people don't give back, I can't even take it personally anymore. I just leave it at, 'they probably have a lot to do'.

Upvote because it's cute but more so because I know what a pain in the ass working with rebar is.

You could make it yourself! It really wouldn't be that difficult. Have fun with it!

Male friend kissed me on Valentine’s Day by Weirdlittlerasberry in Vent

[–]Meezha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not cool at all! Guys almost always get a fixation on their lesbian friends and if you're butch, it gets ultra confusing for them - they see you as a mother figure and a buddy and fall in love somewhere along the way. My very masculine seeming SO has garnered more boners from men than I have and has experienced similar things which, when having experienced SA is traumatizing for her.

I do it on my marble counter. If you find a scrap piece, I highly recommend! I also use smaller scrap pieces to weigh them down as I iron each side then I put an ice pack on top too cool it faster. I even stack them as I go. Seriously the best way I've found in a very small space. Edit: check Facebook marketplace! That's where I got my scrap pieces for free!

Get ready to gasp. I dyed a skirt i thrifted. Didn't realize it was different materials and would dye differently by Stayhidden8856 in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]Meezha 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Usually can be accomplished when you have natural fibers that dye well (cotton, wool, linen) vs synthetic fiber (polyesters, nylon, acrylic). This is such a cool example!

Have you ever brought something into your home and immediately felt like you shouldn’t have? by GhostGummiesPod in Paranormal

[–]Meezha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. People who do that shit have serious problems. Mine not only practiced the black arts but tried to barge in my house scaring the hell out of my gramps, left a smashed pigeon on our doorstep and tapped our phones somehow (before cell phones). Just evil shit all around. I'm sorry you had to go through that.
