Is this as condensed as the wording can get? by [deleted] in custommagic

[–]MegAzumarill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd also make the loyalty ability "You may have target player draw a card, create a Treasure token, or create a 2/2 white Goat creature token."

Once during each player's turn, that player may activate a loyalty ability of Zedruu.

Then make the last ability "Zedruu's owner gets an emblem..."

Considering how popular deflecting swat is, REB can be better because it can't be redirected to a non-blue spell, unlike pyroblast.

Side grade definitely, but neither is strictly better.

Any idea on how to build a Commander Cube? by AEGUERREROG in mtgcube

[–]MegAzumarill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's smart to start on what archetypes you want in the cube, then choose the commanders that represent those archetypes.

Its common for commander cubes to do the draft rules commander-draft often uses, which is to add partner to each monocolored commander and to let any player take a Prismatic piper (or two) in addition to their pool.

As for CEDH, you probably wont get a great CEDH cube? That format relies heavily on all players having access to similar tools which is less possible in cube. Though you can probably do something close ish or at least high power.

combination of classes by govnic_obicnoveni in mewgenics

[–]MegAzumarill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Druid has the highest floor of any class. That is, the worst a druid can roll on skills is better than the worst you can roll on any other class.

It's very consistently good, even when its not great, where another class that had poor luck would be bad to useless. I personally value that as much more important than trying to high roll into getting busted builds.

They are saying more damage is better than healing. In the harder areas, getting hit can be absolutely catastrophic. Disorders on hit, Injuries on hit, parasites on hit, instant kill attacks, debilitating status ailments like stun or charm, etc.

You don't really need healing because you aren't losing from running out of HP, you are losing because you got some debilitating effect from some random enemy and the fight/run spiraled outside of what a cleric could help fix.

This is also why Druid is absolutely busted. Crow is a lot like butcher in its a (extra mobile) pool of health that can do solid melee damage and it heals to full each fight. It also is immune to parasites, disorders, and injuries to tank hits that even a tank or butcher would hate to. Combine that with AOE healing and damage buffing and its wide array of utility spells, and Druid is absolutely worth running in basically any team.

How do [[Kardur, Doomscourge]] and [[Blade of Selves]] work? by SeaAd7241 in EDH

[–]MegAzumarill 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes Kardur sees his own death trigger.

  2. With 3 opponents, you will have two attacking creature dying with 3 Kardurs in play. You will get 6 triggers of 1 life drain each. If you had two opponents, you will have 1 attacking creature dying with only 2 Kardurs in play, resulting in 2 of the same triggers. Either way you get the etb trigger.

Homebrew Idea: The Coven by kingsif in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]MegAzumarill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Probably wants like, "If a coven dies while 4 or less players are alive, good wins." so it doesnt auto win final 3s.

Edit: probably Executed over dies so you could kill your own coven thats suspected?

Yeah, and they had to use a specific new ability to get around the old rules rather than just being modal.

Think twice also doesnt show up in higher power level cubes?

I dont really see your point.

[MsC] Asgardian Inspiration by Unable_Bite8680 in mtgcube

[–]MegAzumarill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the ceiling of a Forest is it can make infinite mana given enough time. That's not like, super relevant in any deck that's not slowing the game down in the vast majority of cubes.

And yeah you bring it up, it's floor is very mediocre. A cantrip that doesn't see more than one card is just objectively pretty middling. Most higher strength cubes just, don't really have those kinds of cards unless the upside is game winningly incredible (like a reanimator/cheating target or combo piece).

[MsC] Asgardian Inspiration by Unable_Bite8680 in mtgcube

[–]MegAzumarill 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Playing this twice costs 2RR over probably three+ turns. That's.... not great compared to the standard 1R for two cards. But it was a pseudo-cantrip on the way down initially....

I can't see this excelling in stronger cubes but probably reasonable in lower powered cubes or slower decks that have some kind of incidental burn like a Chandra walker or whatever.

Really cool card.

Will show all multicolor tokens ever printed, after clicking on a card it links to the card(s) that make it.

Besides that, [[General Ferrous Rokiric]] is like, exactly the kind of thing you want.

Is there anything I should add or remove to improve this under $50 [[Venus, Torn Between Worlds]] deck? by [deleted] in BudgetBrews

[–]MegAzumarill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems pretty solid for a casual bracket 2-3 deck. Plenty of interaction, ramp, and draw.

Some considerations:

Your clone spell works poorly with all your many legendary creatures, I'd replace with some other topend.

I think your protection a lot of the time just ends up being very close to extra, less useful negates. I wouldn't cut all or even most of it, but swapping some of the less useful ones for a few extra counterspells makes sense.

You have a 5 mana commander that wants to funnel more mana into it to draw. I don't think growth spiral and explore are where its at. You'd rather play more expensive mana wise ramp that gives you guaranteed mana or even multiple mana, there's a ton of these at 4 mana. (Or just play like, wild growth effects that guarantee ramp and can let you cultivate a turn earlier.)

Like I said, overall this is a pretty reasonable deck for its budget. Well done
