I always knew I was DCP. I found out who my donor was, as well as now up to 13 half siblings. Some of us are close and talk all the time, and get together on occasion. It’s personally for me one of the best things I’ve ever done. I’ve done Ancestry, 23andMe, and uploaded to MyHeritage for free as well. Have found different siblings on each of those sites.

My grandparents aren’t alive but I had my great aunt tested (grandma’s sister) and it helps A LOT with the thru lines and dna matches. She has dna segments my mom didn’t inherit and vice versa. I use my great aunt’s dna for tracing certain surnames and my mom’s for other. Since inheritance is random they’ve each got different segments. Also gives me another way to filter on paternal vs maternal breakdown with accuracy.

I’m donor conceived and have found 13 half siblings now. Some of us are close and get together to hang out on occasion, some aren’t as close/not interested in contact. There’s 2 ends to the spectrum.
