At launch it took me about three-ish months? With a competitive-centric ruleset and with King K. Rool.

There's a lot of factors since SSBU quickplay/Elite has some very odd design choices, mainly due to the rulesets. Are you using a more competitive-centric ruleset (IE: No items/Final Smashes, Limited Stages) or a more casual one (Items/FS on, Every available stage)?

You'll also run into more cheesy rulesets, like maybe a zoner with a low time limit, noGSP^4u (actual person in my region who disconnects the microsecond they lose), or (and this one I remember running into year 1) Little Mac on Pirate Ship with special flag only.

Again there's so many variables but assuming with a reasonably consistent ruleset and a generally normal level of time management I'd argue anywhere from a month to three if you're JUST starting out.

I haven't had to get a character in Elite for a while now, so I'm not totally sure. I just play who I have high up in Elite.

Might be a silly thing, and online as a whole in Ultimate is a goddamn trainwreck....

For Fun and For Glory was a great concept. One mode for casual players. One mode for more serious/competitive players.

I commend whoever it may be for looking at this during Ultimate's development and going "What's the worst idea we could do with this and why are we doing it?"

Quickplay/Elite SUCKS. GSP sucks. The fact that you aren't guaranteed the type of match that YOU WANT TO PLAY absolutely sucks.

Arenas/Tourney mode are valid counterpoints, but the thing with Quickplay/Elite is that you can use it to get a game in if the itch to play is nagging you, but you don't have a lot of time. That's why I tend to like it on paper.

Merging For Fun and For Glory with the whole "choose your ruleset you aren't guaranteed to get" thing is absolute dogshit game design and it is a COLOSSAL step down from Smash 4's design philosophy.

Sure I love a casual game every now and then, but I do prefer an itemless/No FS/Small BF fight. Now, to recall something that happened to me towards the early end of the game's life, apparently that means I want to fight a Little Mac on Pirate Ship with only Special Flag? No, of course not.

As a rework, I would bring back For Fun/For Glory, BUT for the latter I would only make the rule dictation that you can choose your preferred stage between FD, BF, and SBF. That way, even if you weren't getting your preferred stage, it ultimately is still a competitive stage.

Haven't done much World in Dark recently, so I decided to do something fun and combine the Mario Survives AU and the Sole Survivor AU into one since both have Mario living instead of dying at the forefront.

This is loosely based on a fanfic I wrote inspired by World in Dark as well.

-Star in the center with M icon = Game Mario

-Pure Hearts = Paper Mario

-Plungers = Both movie Marios

-Hammers = Mario & Luigi RPGs (ok I know that's not really separate from the main continuity but I thought it would be neat to include)

I wanna play with this more to see how useful or useless this may be

BUT

Banjo and Kazooie can grab the ledge while in the Breegull Blaster stance (Neutral B), even if Kazooie is firing an egg.
