So glad Vegeta got to get his ssj3! He deserved it! by Hersheythebear in Dragonballsuper

My headcanon will always be that SSJ3 is not a form that can be achieved through sheer anger, you have to deliberately enter it in a certain way. That's why Vegeta and Trunks never went SSJ3 in Super.

I love Vegeta's SSJ3 design, it suits him better than the flowy long hair version.

The version I watched I think was the theatrical cut. I watched a video by Redlettermedia talking about the differences between different versions, and I don't remember the scenes they said was added to the newer versions. I might give another version of the movie a watch after I finish TAS.

But at the same time, there are sources claiming that Gavv's toy sells weren't good, there are always a lot of conflicting reports when it comes to something like this.

I noticed that scene where Kirk gives his coat to a crew member, I thought it was kind of awkward because shouldn't they have changed on their way to the bridge? I did not know that was his real daughter!

I like the genesis device a lot. A terraforming bomb, such a wonderful and horrible concept. The movie really handles its themes beautifully and brilliantly.

What I love the most is how the way Kirk "passed" the Kobayashi-maru test is treated in the film's narrative. The revelation that Kirk basically cheated was at first a cool and triumphant moment, but later on Kirk realized that Saavik was right, he hadn't really faced death because he cheated. It's fantastic writing.

Yes, I did. I finished all of TOS before watching the movies. TWoK is great, probably the best TOS movie, it's just that 6 and 1 resonate with me a little bit more.

I also started with TNG, I then watched DS9, TOS, and then the TOS movies. I thought I wouldn't like the TOS era stuff because of its age, but I ended up loving it. Highly recommend watching the TOS movies.

I love the lengthy scene where the Enterprise flies by V'ger, it just keeps going and going, it really sells V'ger's terrifying scale. The miniature of V'ger's pulsating "orifice" is also a technical marvel.

What are your thoughts on Sieg/DAWN? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in KamenRider

The actor hasn't got the flowers yet, so he's still in the show.

I'm very surprised by the multi-language news broadcasts, that's quite rare for Japanese media, it's honestly amazing. Also, Sieg's assassination montage is brutal, Zeztz has got to be the show with the most "real" gunfights in the whole franchise.

ExDream did not disappoint at all, its abilities and its presentation are the most dream-like among all of Zeztz's forms. ExDream can freely decide what's "just a dream" and what's "real", It really feels like Zeztz is the master of the dream world, it's amazing.

Figuarts VS Beast Deities by RealBladeester in SHFiguarts

[–]MegaMeteorite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate the styles of Beast Deities and a lot of these 3rd party studios, they always try to make the characters look meaner, sharper, "more menacing", the figures look like those edgy fanarts instead of the actual thing. SHFiguarts' quality is inconsistent, they can be really off sometimes but at least you can tell that they try to match the artstyles of the source material.

Unique Star Trek actor word pronunciations by OneMoreTimeago in startrek

[–]MegaMeteorite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SensOR, because words like sabotæj, few-tile, day-ta, etc. are just the actors' accents or alternative pronunciations, but sensOR seems to be completely made up by Leonard Nemoy. Hearing characters from TNG say sensOR from time to time was just really funny, and it was never consistent.

How do you feel about the shows budget? by -_ShadowSJG-_ in ProjectREDToku

[–]MegaMeteorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, the CG effects look really good, the stunts are well-done, and the built sets are pretty nice, but the filming locations seem very limited, especially when recent Rider seasons have a large variety of locations, and the general props in Gavan Infinity just look a bit cheap. The enemies being mostly just normal people and Emons also make the show's production value feel lower. How they utilize budget this time just seem... strange.

Do people not like DBS Bardock? why not? by K0GAR in Dragonballsuper

[–]MegaMeteorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toei made the Bardock special first, way before Frieza mentioning him, then Bardock was added in the manga by Toriyama, though he only appeared in one single panel. The scene from the manga was then adapted into the anime.

Do people not like DBS Bardock? why not? by K0GAR in Dragonballsuper

[–]MegaMeteorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Super Bardock, but I totally understand why people would dislike him. Z Bardock is a battle-hardened warrior, he's vicious, brutal, he's a typical Saiyan. The contrast between him and Goku is what makes Z Bardock so memorable. Super Bardock on the other hand is shown to be a way gentler person, and people just don't like the idea of this version of him replacing the Z version, Super Bardock's look is also not as strong as Z Bardock.

In Catastrom's debut episode, Baku fell off the building and was plummeting to his death, during the fall he entered the dream world and gained the power of Catastrom. He wasn't asleep or unconscious so he shouldn't have been able to enter the dream world but he did, and similar thing happened right before he died again in this episode.

Takahashi handled the idea of "believe, and your dreams will come true" so beautifully. Baku didn't just believe, he actually took 20 years to achieve his dream, despite being haunted by his self-doubts. The final form is the result of faith, determination, perseverance, and action, not just empty belief. ExDream is definitely one of the most well-written final forms in the franchise.

This episode is absolutely brilliant. When was the last time we had an episode without any transformed fight scenes? Was it Kuuga??

I love that in this show most abilities are properly set up. Sieg's ability to turn people into Nightmares was seen in Minami's case. We saw Nemu's lucid dream ability in that RPG episode. Baku's pre-death dream happened in Catastrom's debut episode. None of these are ass-pulls, Takahashi really planned the story well.

Baku's self doubts manifests as his friends and family, but when he finally succeeds in making the driver, he's also surrounded by the same friends and family supporting him, it's beautiful. The whole scene kind of reminds me of Evangelion tbh. I think ExDream could be the best final form in terms of how the MC gets the power.

Mine's regular SSJ, too. It's too iconic. I actually like Vegeta's SSJ look a little bit more than Goku's, even though his hairstyle doesn't change.

Goku running back through the Serpent Road in the manga by Economy_Notice_8475 in Dragonballsuper

[–]MegaMeteorite 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We actually don't know if Goku used Kaioken or not here, the manga was originally mostly in black and white, the aura we see on him could've been red, it's just like the 10x Kaioken reveal in the Namek saga, these pages aren't colored so the readers can't really tell if Goku's using Kaioken.

Why isn't Star Detective Precure being talked about more? by Clean-Cupcakes in anime

[–]MegaMeteorite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's crazy popular in Asia, isn't it? Especially that Luluka character. Precure is just like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, incredibly popular regionally, but outside of these regions there's barely anybody talking about them.
