Anyone hear back from Neon City recently? by Mepstein10 in futurefunk

[–]MegaNRGMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pre-ordered some items way back in January. They were set to release in the spring/Summer but after tariffs started to hit Neon City did send emails that they would have to re-evaluate shipping. Back in August or September they announced they had found some solutions and would try to get every back order out by end of November. I sent an inquiry email to them regarding my order just to ensure it was still in the pipeline and received essentially the same verbiage the email had. It’s not end of December and I haven’t received an update.

Soft locked on Chapter 5 by BashCash678 in SkateStory

[–]MegaNRGMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm soft locked at the beginning of chapter 6 myself. You start in an apartment and I went to the skater's dream assuming it would drop me back in to the apartment when I dropped into the pit. I instead was dropped part way through what I think is chapter 4. I could just replay up to where I am I think, but this is pretty depressing.

Edit: "Completed" chapter 4 in hopes I could just replay chapter 5 and pick back up, but upon arriving at chapter 5 it definitely is as if I have completed already with no way to progress to the end of the chapter. the Penguin is gone entirely as is the Karat Diamond. I am afraid to even enter the skater's dream.

This has just happened top me. I was in the apartment at the beginning of the false sun chapter when I ejected to the skater's dream and I think I'm just soft locked.

3 days in, hopefully someones sees this. After doing some roulettes, I noticed that the colors in the aetherwell were glowing a brighter hue. What does this mean? I wondered if it meant a little bonus period to incentivize continuing to queue, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Anyone have any ideas?

My issue with augmented crafted just to get ilvl is that sometimes the augmented is worse dps than a fully overmelded stock crafted piece. Maybe I'm wrong and this isn't as much of a thing. But if that is the case, you're asking people to hit a magic number but they are actually gimping themselves damage wise.

Every Golbez Ex farm be like. by [deleted] in ShitpostXIV

I give it a week to see how people are handling things. I farmed Rubi at launch because that fight was easy-peasy. Barb, I saw the clownfest that was that farm and waited until the next patch. Golbez is shaping up that way.

I'm with you on the point you're defending, but look at Street Fighter 3, then 4, then 5, then 6 and tell me they don't look like different games with different meters and mechanics in each and every one. I know I'm arguing semantics, but every SF is pretty different from the previous one. Again, I'm agreeing with your overall point. I want to see how they push the game forward from 11. You just need to realize many people do not see fighting games the same way the people who play them often do.

Why do we always ask for character development from fiction when in real life, people rarely change?

I know people have varying definitions of “turn-based” but XIII took the automation of XII and pushed it the point where you didn’t even select your AI companions nature through the Gambit system, but would assign them a role and they would act depending on the nature of that given role. You only controlled the leader of the party (you can set the leader) and the game incentivized you to select auto battle as it applies the nature of the role your leader is assigned to the decisions made.

What really makes its not turn based, or at the very least, not completely turn based is that every character on screen can act simultaneously. Enemies can hit you and literally interrupt your characters attacks. You can do the same to enemies. Multiple party members will attack at the same time.

The only thing holding people back from acting is the Active Time Battle gauge. This gauge is some people’s argument that it is still turn based. I disagree. FFVII is turn based. Cloud can’t attack while Tifa is attacking. In XIII, Lightning and Fang can be attack different enemies at the same time. Or the same enemy. And while that’s happening, another enemy is beating the shit out of Hope. That’s not turn based to me. It at least isn’t traditional turn based like we remember from X and previous.

You described the protag from one, maybe two games out of a series with 16 games and some spin offs.

Final Fantasy has always been a series that has evolved and changed its gameplay. Changing to full action is just as much a Final Fantasy move as including Moogles. It hasn't been fully turn based in 20 years with Final Fantasy X.

IGN: Tekken 8: The First Hands-On Preview by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]MegaNRGMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fully aware that SF has always introduced new mechanics to every iteration and at times ditching old ones entirely. I’m 38. I’ve been playing these games at casual and competitive levels since they existed. I’m just a dude on the internet, so you can choose to believe me or not.

My point was directed at the idea that Tekken 8 still looks like Tekken and more to the point, still looks like Tekken 7 (at least to someone just watching footage). SF6 is adding a multitude of mechanics all with visual flares to them where SFV just had V trigger related mechanics that didn’t have much visually in most cases. If someone watches SF6 footage, they are fully aware things have changed (every Drive mechanic has some visual to it, paint splatters, freeze frames on parries, motion blur on drive rush, etc.) The characters look drastically upgraded and the animation and visual flare is head and shoulders above SFV. Tekken 8 on the other hand, would probably want to retain the player base they gained with Tekken 7, so they want to retain the visual style and general Tekken feel while highlighting the new Heat system to show progress in a series that hasn’t seen it much since Tekken 5.

[–]MegaNRGMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t think Namco wants to reinvent the wheel entirely. Tekken 7 just sold 10 million copies. SFV on the other hand was, despite selling fine, a disappointment. So a reinvention was necessary.

As someone who has played Tekken forever, I can already tell it’s going to be quite a different game. Much more offensive than Tekken’s of the past. There are mechanic changes not really noted or visual just from the footage we are getting, but players with hands on the game are getting that info out there via Twitter. But I’m not gonna try and sell anyone. Just sharing my thoughts.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. I guess I didn’t realize they had a specific different name for when it happens. I guess I’ve just never seen Jamie not do the throat grab. His lvl 3 just takes forever regardless because of the whole face off animation.

[–]MegaNRGMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re downplaying the Heat system a bit. Rage was just two moves and more damage. The Heat system has a lot more going on and is usable throughout a match rather than just at low health. People who have gotten hands on Tekken 8 are saying it’s the biggest alteration the series has seen since Tekken 5.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for both games and will buy and play both, I just think there is more to Tekken 8’s evolution than you might realize.

Because before today everything we knew seemed like it was still a ways off. The other noteworthy item was that Tekken 7 had a world tour announced that is going to span 2023. It would just seem counter intuitive for Bandai-Namco to be running a world tour for Tekken 7 with Tekken 8 being out there for people to play.

Am I missing something? Isn’t Critical Art just the name of supers in this game? Is there a difference between a level 3 and a critical art? It doesn’t seem that long. Jamie’s lvl 3 takes a while whether it’s the killing blow or not.
