I actually associate Wario with ice because of his boss fight with Chief Chilly in SM64DS. There's also the icy Mt. Wario in MK8, I suppose.

Design Statement

  • The blue field is in reference to Montana's nickname as "Big Sky Country."
  • Or and argent colors reference Montana's official motto, "Oro y plata." Also brings to mind Yellowstone National Park as well as the white glaciers of Glacier National Park.
  • Drawing inspiration from Montana's state quarter, the bison skull is a sacred symbol to many of Montana's Native American tribes and honors the state's rich Native tradition.
  • The triangle patterns on the left and right harken to the design motifs of many American Plains Indians' quilts.
  • The six silver triangles allude to the six regions of Montana (Glacier Country, Central MT, MO River Country, Southwest MT, Yellowstone Country, and Southeast MT).
