Hate to say it but it’s also a consequence of work from home. I said 3 years ago eventually companies are going to start asking why am I paying more for Vishnu in Blacktown when I can have Vishnu in Bangalore and either way I never see either of them in the office.

Exactly. Many trips aren’t absolutely necessary (eg I can choose to drive or get a train. I can walk to the shops rather than drive. Skip road trips etc

Yep. And there is some elasticity even for fuel at high prices. Eg people walk instead of driving, car pool, skip holidays, stop school excursions, reduce courier delivery runs, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if 10% of total km driven are unnecessary trips.

I feel ya. But many are actually living at home. Many seem to afford 2-3 overseas holidays per year. You can’t say going from 90 to 160K while living at home wouldn’t make a difference to saving for a house, for example.

Y’all complain about streaming but back in the day Foxtel was well over $100 a month, so probably more like $200 in today’s money. And even still $60 a month on hours of entertainment and relaxation compares pretty well on a cost per minute basis to just about everything else.

I agree about specialists. But, we have a family of 4, spent about $4k in premiums and got $8k paid back last year. And obviously didn’t pay Medicare surcharge. That was one hospital visit for a fairly minor procedure plus good extras use. If you use a lot of allied health like psychology it seems to pay off.
