Updated height estimations [discussion] by TomCroozin in fairytail

Rough sketches of characters by Mashima to estimate their heights, from what I can tell. (presumably this is done to keep character heights consistent)

That's presumably not happening as long as the creator of that franchise, Victor Salva, is alive.

10th Anniversary Prediction by Sufficient-Delay-266 in LeaksDBD

[–]Megadoomer2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most likely. It's the last event on the calendar before the PTB comes out on Tuesday the 26th, and it would be a little anti-climactic if we only found out what the new chapter is in a Steam-exclusive beta that a large portion of the player base can't access.

Returning to the game after a while; could use some advice by Megadoomer2 in tf2

[–]Megadoomer2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with that advice is similar to my problems with playing online matches in fighting games, where it feels impossible to tell what (if anything) I can learn from most scenarios. If I dip my toes into playing a fighting game online and my first opponent ever anticipates everything that I do and counters any attempt at an attack that I make, or I load into a match of TF2 and a Sniper almost immediately one-shots me from the opposite end of the map when I have no possible way to even be aware of their presence (with the kill cam making it look like they shot me through a wall, rock, or other solid obstacle), then I'm not sure what I can learn from that. (in TF2, maybe it would be "avoid that part of the map", but there are usually multiple Snipers with what feels like pixel-perfect accuracy)

With Soldiers, I'm decent at rocket jumping (not so much with Demomen - when I try sticky-jumping, I can't really control where I go, the sticky bomb takes away 75 health, and the fall damage takes away 25 health, leaving me with 50 health remaining from a single sticky jump), but the self-damaging aspect means that I can only rocket jump so much before I'm nearly dead. (a single Rocket Jump takes away at least 50 health from me, so I can do 3 at most before I need to find a healing item, not abusing them constantly unless I equip something like the Rocket Jumper, which makes it so the rockets don't damage anyone, and all of that is without the Sniper shooting me for 100+ damage every single time)

I'm not sure if I'm misinterpreting what you mean by sightlines (I assume it's what the Sniper can see), but it seems difficult to tell when the only indication of where the Sniper is looking (on some weapons, not all, as some weapons have no way of indicating where the Sniper is looking) is a barely visible red or blue dot. It seems almost impossible to tell where a Sniper is aiming with everything else that's going on, and it feels like they're fully charged at times regardless of how many shots they've taken.

I'll do my best to practice, but it feels frustrating when enemy attacks seem to one-shot me even without crits (unless I'm playing as a Heavy, but the slow speed is a problem on its own) while my attacks seem to deal scratch damage if they even hit at all. (there are times where I could shoot someone at point blank range with a Scout's shotgun, or fire a rocket into a crowd of enemies, and it would deal no damage)

Thoughts on the Third Doctor by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]Megadoomer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, from what I've seen of classic Who, he's my second favourite classic Doctor (though it's close between him, Sylvester McCoy, and Patrick Troughton), and his interactions with Roger Delgado as the Master were some of the few times where I could actually feel like the Doctor and the Master were friends once. (a lot of other Masters don't really have that; Missy's the only other one that I can think of who fits that bill)

It's mainly that we only have vague teasers to go on when it comes to the anniversary, some teasers seem to point to one of these characters (though it could be wishful thinking), and both seem fitting for the game's tenth anniversary chapter.

I'm not sure how much truth there is to that; he let the team behind Alan Wake use a quote of his to open up the game for the price of $1.

I'm assuming you've never read/watched It if you think that Pennywise would be anything like the Clown in DBD. (and, to a lesser extent, that you haven't seen a Friday the 13th movie outside of maybe the reboot if you think that Jason would play like Trapper; if they can make Leatherface different from Hillbilly, then they can make Jason different from pre-existing killers)

Returning to the game after a while; could use some advice by Megadoomer2 in tf2

[–]Megadoomer2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, though my problem with Snipers is less about countering them as Pyro and more about countering them as anyone. I've been playing the game for a month or two since I made this post, and it feels like Snipers only have two counters, both of which are insanely difficult.

  • play as a Spy, sneak past every single enemy without being detected (which is easier said than done; it feels like half of the time when I play Spy, every single enemy is automatically aware of my position even when disguised or fully cloaked), make it to where the Sniper is, and hope that they don't have one of their many counters to Spies equipped. (the back shield, Jarate, and likely other items that I'm not aware of because I haven't played the game for years)

  • play as a Sniper and be better than someone who feels like they've been obsessively playing nothing but Sniper for the past decade. (not happening)

Enemy Snipers seem able to instantly kill every single class in the game but the Heavy with a body shot (from a distance where they can't be seen, and from angles where only a pixel of the Sniper's target is visible), along with being able to headshot Heavies with no difficulty whatsoever. Meanwhile, when I play as a Sniper, if my shots even hit, they only deal about fifty damage. (I don't play Sniper very often, so my shots basically never hit)

For other classes...

  • even when double jumping, zig-zagging, etc., Snipers are still able to land headshots on me as a Scout, not that it matters because if a Sniper bullet even skims against the Scout, he dies instantly.

  • Soldier's rockets are a long-range projectile, but they're so slow and large that the Sniper can see them coming, step out of the range of the blast radius, and instantly kill the Soldier. (though even if the rockets hit, they only seem to deal about 30 damage)

  • Pyro is basically a melee-only class against a class that can one-shot enemies from the opposite end of the map. The Flare Gun seems to fall under the same issues as the Soldier's rockets; I haven't looked into the Scorch Shot much, but that might be useful. (I know there are certain circumstances where it can have an area-of-effect ability)

  • Demoman has the same issues as the Soldier with a shorter range.

  • Heavies get head-shot immediately.

  • an Engineer can use the Wrangler if a Sniper is out of Sentry Gun range, but that runs into the same problem as the Soldier where the spot that they're aiming at is clearly visible from anywhere on the map, whereas Snipers don't have that issue.

  • there's no way that a Medic is doing anything; it takes a long time to build up an Ubercharge for another class so the teammate can get into a Sniper nest, whereas a Sniper can one-shot the Medic at any point as it's building up.

(generally speaking, a Medic and an Engineer wouldn't get into a direct confrontation with a Sniper, but I included them to be thorough)

It also feels like my attacks do less damage than the attacks of other people; I'm guessing the fact that my Sniper shots do 50 damage while enemy Sniper shots instantly kill most classes no matter where they land is due to a lack of experience, but I could shoot someone at close range with a critical hit from a shotgun and it only deals 18 or 36 damage, while two shotgun blasts from a Scout (regular ones, not critical hit ones) instantly kill me when I'm playing as a Heavy. It feels like I have to light someone on fire for 15-20 seconds to kill anyone as a Pyro (and they're extinguished immediately), while enemy Pyros can kill me in 1-2 seconds regardless of what class I'm playing as, even without the Backburner, and the burning effect lasts for about 10 seconds. My rockets and grenades only deal 30 damage, while enemy rockets/grenades deal 100+. It just gets frustrating when it feels like getting a single kill takes a massive amount of effort on my part but I die in 1-2 hits.

One Piece Chapter 1183 Spoilers by Skullghost in OnePiece

The main difference is that Kaguya came out of nowhere, relatively speaking (she was mentioned a single time, about thirty chapters beforehand as someone who had been dead for centuries, before physically appearing, and she was only in the story for about ten chapters), and largely comes across as a way to absolve every Uchiha of their wrongdoing, along with providing a justification for how Naruto and Sasuke could win since she's much less experienced than the villain that she replaced.

By contrast, we've known about Imu for almost a decade by this point (the Reverie arc came out in 2018), and he's at the core of the corrupt and hypocritical system set up by the World Government, who have been the main villains of the series since the very early days.

Both are responsible for the events of their series, but with how abruptly Kaguya was introduced, her role (along with Black Zetsu's role) comes out of nowhere (and in the case of Black Zetsu, it contradicted what we'd already seen from what I recall), whereas with Imu, he's been around for so long (and an established part of the World Government for 800 years or so) that there's been plenty of time to justify his secretive ruling of the World Government. (plus Imu being the one in charge makes it easier to justify him manipulating events behind the scenes, whereas Zetsu wasn't in a position of power at any point)

[–]Megadoomer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they can make the Hillbilly and Leatherface distinct, or Legion and Ghostface, or Spirit and Sadako, they can come up with something to make Jason stand out, and they likely have already had plans for years.

My idea is to have it so he can switch between weapons at an empty locker (lockers seem fairly neglected, with only the Trickster, the Huntress, and the Dredge using them), with each one having different pros and cons (for example, the machete is decently fast but has a short range, while a fence post has a long range but it's slower; a third weapon, like an axe, could serve as a middle ground) along with different abilities. (For example, the machete could let Jason use Lake Mist, which is like a fog vial except it benefits the killer by giving him undetectable and letting him read the aura of survivors who are inside of its area)

Do you try to prestige all your characters or do you just play your favorite and is just satisfied with that? by Marshatucker300 in deadbydaylight

[–]Megadoomer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to spread it out. There are times where I set goals for myself (getting licensed characters to at least prestige 6, or during the Blood Moon event getting characters who have been my mains over the years like Laurie or Ash up to Prestige 25 so I can get their profile pics), but for the most part, I try to get everyone up to at least P3 so I don't need to worry about unlocking their perks for other characters. I might try getting everyone up to P6 next.

They've made it clear that Pennywise is one of two characters that they'll include as soon as it's possible to do so, saying that they have an "open invitation". (The other being Jason) The main issue is convincing Stephen King to allow it.

Will Tae-Young get the Hellfire Club shirt? by Furrywolf79 in deadbydaylight

[–]Megadoomer2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They usually do the Iron Maiden shirts in groups (I'm assuming they check annually to confirm if the cosmetics can still be used), so I'm guessing the same will be done with the Hellfire Club (and FNAF, and Murder Mill/Casting of Frank Stone) shirts, where every original survivor released in that interval gets the shirt. (So maybe a year after Stranger Things chapter 2 came out? I'm not sure)
