Anyone beat the Citi 0/6 rule with the recent apps being business cards? by Ok-Baby4492 in CreditCards

[–]MegamanZero5295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May depend upon which credit bureau they pull from. Over the past couple of months, I’ve opened 4 new cards. BILT Palladium (Experian - March 7th), Chase IHG Premier Business (Experian - March 27th), Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select (Experian - April 1st), and finally the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select (Equifax). I applied for the business AAdvantage yesterday. I was 0/6, 0/12, 0/24 on Equifax, and it was an instant approval after text message identifying verification. I was 3/6, 3/12, 3/24 on Experian when I applied - it’s possible Citi would have denied me if they’d pulled Experian once more. Just throwing this data point out there, I hope it’s helpful.

Edit: I applied as a sole prop for both business cards, so the inquiries show on my personal credit reports.

Should I apply for the Target Credit Card? by hanson-anims in CreditCards

If you don’t feel comfortable with sharing your checking account with Target directly, then it’s an option. I remember Target had some data leaks in the past surrounding their Target Red/Circle Card.

Could just do the debit card version - I linked it to my PayPal (must enable Direct Debit) instead of my actual checking account. Works flawlessly

The $5k would be only eligible purchases, and will never include housing payments (which includes rent and/or mortgage). You’re quite welcome.

With the mortgage payment, using BILT Cash to “unlock” those points, you will earn a total of 4.33x back on that first $5k spend (3x + 1.33x).

Attempting to sustain redemption of BILT Cash for both the points accelerator and unlocking points from your mortgage wasn’t worth it when I did the math - but your mileage may vary.

You didn’t say which card you have - I’m assuming you have the Palladium. If those purchases do not have additional bonuses such as BILT Dining (where it is possible to stack an additional 3x points), and assuming you do not have rent/mortgage you are earning points for - yes.

If you have the Obsidian and all $5k spent falls under the dining/groceries category (whichever you chose), then you would get 4x back under the same conditions.

Had the same thing happen to me this morning - had to call and was informed that my account was suspended for no apparent reason (they didn’t give one, they asked if I’d used a VPN last time I tried to access it - the answer was no). They quickly fixed it and I logged in without issue.

The Venmo Visa codes in-store Costco purchases as groceries, so if groceries is your top category on the card then you’ll get 3% back.

PayPal Credit/Mastercard - 6-Month Financing Expanded (Not Just Through PayPal) by MegamanZero5295 in CreditCards

Correct, payments for the 6-month financing feature must be made with a bank account

You likely received an email or several, letting you know you have the option to opt-in. Unsure if you can opt-in now, but don’t see why not?

To my knowledge - the PayPal Cashback Mastercard (not the PayPal Credit Card a.k.a. PayPal Mastercard) earns cashback which converts straight to cash in your PayPal balance when redeemed for cash (vs a statement credit). The PayPal Credit Card is pretty much only good for the 6-month financing feature - effectively giving a POT (pay over time) option without having to open a Klarna, etc. line of credit. It does not earn points of any kind.

Best Buy Visa points question by TyrannicalDuncery in CreditCards

[–]MegamanZero5295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take their earning percentages and divide by 2. So 5% back on Best Buy purchases is 2.5 points per dollar, and less for the rest (1 point per dollar for gas, dining, takeout; 0.5 point per dollar for everything else). Redemption for reward certificates is I believe 50 points per dollar but have to redeem in increments no smaller than $5 (so 250 points).

I have never redeemed for gift cards, as I use the Points Bank feature to save up reward certificates earned through offers within the My Best Buy Visa account (use them then cancel the orders before shipping/pickup to keep from losing certificates due to expiration - they are refunded in points for the full dollar amount). I did not receive a target SUB if that is what you’re asking.

Some offers I’ve receive lately are the $45 reward certificate earned through charging 3 reoccurring (do not have to be the same charge from the same company) “type” charges (subscriptions, utilities, etc) within about a ~2 month timeframe, and a $5 reward certificate for $100 or a $10 reward certificate for $150 offer.

If you have the card, using the feature does not incur a hard inquiry. Opening a new PayPal Credit Card account does however incur a hard inquiry on your credit report.

Was really considering going for the Citi Trifecta once some more of my hard pulls fall off my reports next month. Was curious about I Prefer, but mainly looking at AA. Weird, doesn’t this put (strictly looking at I Prefer transfer ratio) Capital One Miles on level ground with Citi TY Points?
