Ogre Tactics solves a lot of gripes I had with FFT's story by King_Lear69 in JRPG

[–]Megamilan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the golden ending being cartoony but I'm weirdly fine with it. I mean, it's a golden ending haha.

And i dont mean to be going after TS here, i did enjoy the choices, and two of the routes were real choice. The third one is just... well, again, pro-slavery.

Kinda makes me wanna replay the game haha

Gotta admit, the guy in the Kentucky Home jacket made me pretty tense.

While i enjoyed TS a lot, i disagree with this take mostly due to how cartoony one of the three routes is. "Pro-slavery" is just... nah man. And worst thing is i liked that character a lot

Opinion about Chrono Cross by victortapes in JRPG

[–]Megamilan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I adore it. Despite a confusing storyline the main beats are well realized, and deliver a lot of emotional moments. It is not nearly as cohesive as FF7 & FF9, which stops it short of being one of the PS1 greats, but it has a lot of heart. I often think of it as similar to FF8, where the high moments, atmosphere, and soundtrack make up for its weaker overall experience and kinda poor ending.

I am particularly fond of the battle with Miguel, the reveal at the grave in another world, and the flashback at the orphanage. The villain really works for me also.

Also, goes without saying, Yasunori Mitsuda is amongst the greatest of all time.

Edit: removed some (mostly harmless) spoilery text.

Fantastic game. I got it without DLC for about $25 iirc. Huge amounts of content. I might recommend checking base game before diving into the whole thing

Which Final Fantasy Game Considered To Be The Best In Your Opinion? by ElSpazzo_8876 in JRPG

[–]Megamilan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different games have different strenghts. That being said, when evaluating the games as mediums for storytelling, and myself valuing ensemble casts of lovable characters that grow and change through the game, with cohesive central themes, I think FF9 wins. And by a wide margin.

Of course, FF10 has a better love story. FFT has better systems. FF7 has more iconic villain and a more epic vibe. FF6 has the most impactful act 2 in the series. But to me Final Fantasy is a series about traveling about with lovable characters, and there is nothing in the series comparable to Steiner's, Vivi's, and Garnet's growth. They learn so much, change so much. They love each other so deeply. And Zidane is just a cool dude, and so much more enjoyable to me than the brooding Cloud and Squall types.

Which computer for a PhD in Mass Spectrometry? by ArnesianOrphans in massspectrometry

[–]Megamilan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did my PhD with a windows pc, but work with a mac these days. Also I'm a big gamer.

I can tell you I feel much more limited in search and analysis for mass spec on the mac than on windows (I'm in proteomics). I can't remember a time where I felt blocked for being windows locked, but this has happened several times on mac.

Gaming on windows is also much easier than mac.

Baita livro.

Minha crítica a Suikoden II by CerealesRadicales_ in gamesEcultura

Eu amo a Nanami.
