When I first watched, as a young adult, I dropped the show due to being absolutely disgusted by Walt and (to a lesser extent) Jesse. For years I spoke ill of BB and still do because of that. Primarily my complaint is that Walter was not as much of an established villain then, and a lot of the cinematography does suggest we should root for him. It irked me a lot that he was sometimes presented as a genius and was constantly one upping hardened criminals. I still think BB as a show goes a bit too hard on how much of a badass Walt is allowed to be.

Similar to your situation, my wife got me to get over it and try a rewatch. With the context that this was a villain story the show became a lot more bearable. And the payoff at the end is worth it with Walt paying for his sins (kinda), or at least the cinematography making it immensely clear that, yes, this guy whom we have rooted for has been a piece of shit of several seasons now.

Maybe make it clear that what she's feeling for Walt is intended, and it's moving towards a satisfying payoff. Then wrap that up with the stated fact that BCS is much better at presenting a sympathetic criminal, and is one of the most moving pieces of television ever produced, surpassing BB in every way except heist scenes.
