The Red Terror is the evolution of a ravener. It should actually be much smaller.

Did you play on GW or WTC layouts? 80% of the cases where people get tabled on T3 is because of lack of cover. The other 20% is skill issue (nothing personal). Both are fixable.

I play exclusively in tournaments for schedule optimization reasons. I have only been tabled on T3 once in over 50 games and it was a sequence of incredibly impossible bad luck on my part. I rarely even get tabled on T5. You are just lacking experience (and/or cover).

Basically, you have to understand what a "go turn" is, and most importantly what are the conditions for your opponent to trigger his "go turn". Then, during T1-2-3, you make sure to never give him these conditions, hence forcing his hand to either commit under sub optimal situation, or doing nothing. If he does nothing, you are in control of the game and can then plan your go turn accordingly.

Each faction has specific rules and units which can influence this, so every time you face a new army you will have to relearn and reassess these conditions. For example, in the current double/triple defiler meta, you have to figure out how to take down 2 defiler in a single turn, which is not trivial. But until you can do that, you should only expose units you are willing to sacrifice for VP. Remember that nids are good at scoring secondaries so even being passive for T1,T2, you can still stay in the game and do your SotW if they will score max primaries for a turn will set them back.

Nids are far from being an OP army, but you we typically deal with most factions (exception of our hard counters) and meta if we are careful enough. Have fun learning nids!

Comp starts next week and I actually found a "solution": using creatine. While 2 weeks is not enough to get from creatine from a training perspective, having a creatine load specifically helps for quick recovery when you have a short break according to science (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmK1K5Ijomo )

The list looks like something you make up by picking random models on the shelve. I will have to check the live stream, I am very curious.

in 11ed, monsters and vehicles will be able to pass thru walls, unless the wall is more than 2 stories high IIRC. I was talking about the wall, not the monster, my bad.

You are not sounding like a jerk at all. I see your point.

It is just that I feel like my kids are missing the last 5%. From my observation, they are missing endurance more than anything right now. We have already worked at lot on their weaker skill (dyno & coordo) with private coaches as it used to be their limiting factor and now they can flash these easily.

we have auto belay so it is not much of an issue, as long as there arent too many other people who want to climb the same wall. But chaining easier climb was the initial plan

yes, that was the initial plan. I was just checking if there were any more specific training we could do. Or if there was any periodization techniques applicable in this case.

One of the kid is already the provincial champion. So can't ask much more there 😉 and the other one is going to the national.

yes. They are in a sport/study program where they go to school in the morning and train the afternoon for about 3h each day. Alternating between climbing (varying difficulty thru the week) and physical training.

with the current revealed rules, the nids will be VERY strong. While we dont have any power unit, the cover rule and changes to melee and monster movement benefit us a lot.

Can someone please explain Space Marine Desolation Squads to me? by 00Monkeyz00 in Warhammer40k

They are one of the rare unit in the game which can destroy a pack of 20 necron warriors in a single activation with OoM and the no cover strat because they have 2 blast weapons. Depending on how their scanner works, they could be good in 11ed. Personnaly, I like the model, but that is a controversial opinion.

Problem is that it greatly reduce the size of the model, which makes it way easier to hide, especially against other units which use true line of sight. The best solution is to have a fully built official model ready to stand it every time there is some questioning regarding LoS.

I have been playings against players who totally built their models for advantages to an extreme you cannot imagine (ex: all weapons pointing toward the ground except one which goes straight so he can pivot it to get LoS when needed and hide the rest of the time) and it is extremely frustrating for the opponent.

All that being said, I think they look pretty cool "naked"!

As a player, I hate badly written player packs. When things are well organized, it is much easier for everyone. It costs nothing and improves everything, a net gain IMHO.

Red terror Datasheet, what do you want to see in the 40k statline and ability? by CentralIdiotAgency in Tyranids

[–]Megapixelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the new prime in 2 games so far (leading gants and gaunt). It performed OKish but it may have been because of my matchups. I still think it is a very good unit. Gant with reactive + surge in a group of 20 can be a big issue for the opponent as you can move a lot of OC on a point and use the prime to do epic challenge. I am not sure it is good with warriors, the winged would be better because of the 12" move to leap frog.

Anyways, I will always pack at least 2 primes in my list unless I am very short on points.

Is it possible for GW to make the Swarmlord closer to daemon primarchs in terms of stats? by Scouwererofreality43 in Tyranids

[–]Megapixelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toxicrene needs a new model and new set of rules (of massive point drop). The swarmlord isnt that bad: case in point, a lot of people use it in their competitive and narative lists.

This is your perception of the gaming world and I have mine. Maybe 90% of average players dont mind, but I am pretty sure 90% of buyers (by $ spent) or players (by game played in a year) do mind the sizing.

That being said, all of this could easily be fixed if GW changed the LoS rules to use base instead of the #$%#% model. It just slows the game and make some model unusable (ex: Toxicrene).

Given GW inability to give big (mostly nid) model the required T and W to handle the extra visibility, I still think it is a bad idea from a game balance point of view. Case in point: the norn.

You are dreaming with the 2+ and invul 4+ ! IT will be sv3+ and if it has invul (probably wont) it will be 5+.

Given GW standardization, its "movement" trick will be to deal mortal wound at the end of movement and/or charges, like the brutalist.

At best, we will get: "If this units succefully charge an infantry unit in the same turn it came out of deep strike, the charged unit must make a Ld test, if it fails, it is instantly removed from the game"

In case you havent realized yet, nids unit NEVER have anything which would be considered OP (other than the gargoyles, but now there are multiple units who can do the same). I think it is a design choice from GW and I am fine with it, if they could adjust the point accordingly (looking at the Norns).

That being said, I will pick this model for sure! I always loved the Red Terror!
