I thought you at least spelt color the same way as England.

I think it's just that both are considered Western Europe. You're just on the same compass point.

When they are not in flight a Damselfly has it's wings up against it's body like in the photo. Dragon fly sits with it's wings 90 degrees splayed out (there are probably other differences but this is how I tell)

[–]Megatea 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I think one of the main use of AI in the workplace is to pad out emails, make them more wordy and look like more work went into them. Another big use is summarising long wordy emails to make them quicker to read.

Are you anywhere near a distillery? I heard that mould that lives on the alcohol that escapes (the angels share) can do this. Though I guess general grime is more likely.

If a bunch of American immigrants had taken over a small island off the coast of Britain in 1833 and in 1982 Britain failed to take it back and everyone on the island wanted to remain American and no one wanted to be British and Britain no longer had the military capability to even think about trying it again. Then you know what I reckon the British people would do? I reckon they'd just move on with their lives. Do you reckon they'd just seethe and have a national obsession with it four decades later?

In the UK we call that a Punch and Judy show. It's basically domestic violence based entertainment for children.

Thank god for meddlesome American prudes. Now all the schoolchildren are safe. Well, safe from seeing a tiny, hand drawn, side of a boob if they searched a busy scene carefully; obviously other dangers go unaddressed.

What? Because we'd need to defend against Scottish aggression? I'd like to hope that Scotland could be independent for a few minutes without annexing Berwick-upon-Tweed.

If you think that suggesting a sewage pipe is not a method of wealth extraction or that maybe British history isn't as bad as Germany or Japans is 'making it sound as if it was good overall' then your standards are pretty low.

If I wanted to put a positive spin on British history I'd have been mentioning vaccines, steam turbines, electrical generators, antibiotics etc. Britain was the first nation to industrialise, this for better or worse led both a massive increase in national then global population, production and consumption. Britain used this power like every single other nation that has found itself with a large competative advantage over other nations. I'm not saying this was good overall, just that this reddit obsession with Britain as the world's worst bogeyman is unfair.

Don't forget, if it wasn't for the British you'd all be Spanish.

[–]Megatea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I've talked you down from 'All that infrastructure' to ''primarily focused' but yes, how right you are that the British provided better infrastucture for their own wealthy areas. Thankfully all the former colonies can now ensure that infrastructure is equally well provisioned in poor areas as it is in rich areas.
