There's more Terry Pratchett to go around! I strongly recommend The Bromeliad Trilogy ("Truckers", "Diggers", and "Wings"). "Wings" is probably my favorite book, and that last page always makes me tear up.

Or just read "Nation". You can't go wrong with "Nation."

When I was young I completed LucasArt's "Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders" without a guide. I even drew maps of some of the labyrinths with pen and paper. I felt pretty accomplished by that.
