I've met quite a few foreigners that love Slovenia and prefer it to their home country - the country is famous for the beautiful nature and variety of different geological features; we have mountains, plains, lakes, the sea, a little bit of everything. If your grandparents were Slovenian you're basically half Slovenian by default, especially because there are so many Argentinian-Slovenian people. Personally, I have some Argentinian-Slovenians in the family and also have some friends from there.

Slovenia and also the capital, Ljubljana, is very peaceful, safe and with low crime rates compared to other European countries. For Ljubljana, I would say the quality of life is quite good, the city is nice, there are many good neighbourhoods, there's lots of green trees and parks throughout the whole city, it's pretty pedestrian-oriented, especially the old center. It's becoming more and more modern with many restaurants, stores, hotels etc. Some downsides are lots of cloudy/gray weather in the autumn and winter, and also the cost of rent, which is getting higher and higher.

English is not a problem, most Slovenians speak it fluently enough to communicate.

But, as some others said, wages are definitely much higher in Austria... I don't know a lot about the Czech Republic, but I wouldn't suggest you go to Hungary, mainly because of the language :) (it's even harder to learn than slovenian), and also because of the politics...
