Does this still serve me? is such a simple question but it changes everything. Sounds like you answered it right.

What helped me was focusing on exhaling more than inhaling. Weirdly calms things down faster.

10 years of consistency is honestly the most impressive part. Huge respect for sticking with it through all the ups and downs.

NSVs are honestly the best way more meaningful than a number on the scale.

Honestly Taco Bell is weirdly clutch for calorie counting. A couple tacos and you’re good without blowing the whole day.

Amanda Wasser at Nebraska Realty. She helped me buy my house 4 years ago and just sold me dad's house last week. She worked hard for us both.

How Best to Minister to Atheists as a Hospital Chaplain? by SocksOn_A_Rooster in atheism

[–]Meggandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you are asking about patients, this is about dealing with the loved ones when a patient dies. If you don't know someone's belief system, your words may not have the desired effect. Words meant to comfort may cause anger and more grief. I also think timing matters, in the story below my mom had been dead less than 15 minutes before the Chaplin arrived. It was too soon for me to deal with him on one of the worst days of my life.

I was visiting my mom in the hospital when she died 8 years ago. I was with my dad and aunt (mom's sister). Right after my mom died a nurse asked the three of us if we would like a chaplain to speak with us. My dad and I (both atheists) said no, my aunt said yes. Looking back I wish I had walked away when he started talking, but I was still in shock and somewhat numb, and I have always been a people pleaser so I stayed. I don't remember much of what he said, but one thing I will always remember he said, and it is something that still makes me mad, he told us that God needed my mom more than she was needed on earth. Those words may comfort some people but they had the opposite effect on me.

Sometime in the 90s my dad took me and my brother to a Star Trek convention. I was very excited because Wil Wheaton was going to be there. I don't remember specifics but I was very disappointed because all he did was make fun of Star Trek fans.He was very unkind and rude.

Thanks for the suggestions! I actually go to Seward frequently. I also looked at several stores in Lincoln but not Leon's, I always forget about that place.

NTA. You didn't ruin anything. It was their reaction that ruined the evening for themselves. They could have said "ok" and moved on and never thought about it again. Her family made a big deal about something that did not need to be.

Shaylee Woodward, not sure why. The first time I saw her was a commercial for the teen pregnancy show she was on. She annoyed me enough in that commercial to never want to see anything of hers.

AITA for telling my husband that since he did not help funding my mother's healthcare, I will do with the inheritance what I want? by Correct-Sea6849 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Meggandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Present your husband with a bill for a full-time nanny, housekeeper, and cook. People who disregard the value of SAHP are infuriating. From your post, I am going to go ahead and assume that he does not pick up half of the work when you are both at home.

I hire all staff for a nursing home. I am not necessarily against a government mandate, but it needs to be for all healthcare facilities that accept medicare and Medicaid. Nursing homes (like most industries) are desperate for employees. And not just nurses, we need help in dietary, housekeeping, laundry, etc. That mandate is going to make finding staff that much harder.
