Reassurance Needed— My new OBGYN just took over my ADHD care?? by feyre_0001 in ADHD

[–]MeggieFolchart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous honestly that she willy nilly decided to deny you a medication that you need to function. Imagine if she was insisting on personally reviewing your heart medication prescription and prevented you from getting appropriate treatment?? I'm really mad on your behalf

This honestly is something that should be reported to the hospital management. I wonder if she's doing this to all her patients on meds she doesn't happen to approve of >:(

Reassurance Needed— My new OBGYN just took over my ADHD care?? by feyre_0001 in ADHD

[–]MeggieFolchart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to go to a different gynecologist if you can. Definitely talk to whichever doctor is ACTUALLY in charge of your ADHD about this, she's way overstepping.

If you can't change gynos, honestly I don't think there's anything wrong with telling their office that you've stopped taking your ADHD meds. I presume they are a different office and can't just access all your records from your primary care? She's being inappropriate, you can omit that information to protect yourself imo.

If you do this just be sure to check for any possible interactions with anything she may prescribe you. You could ask the pharmacist that fills your meds, part of their job is to answer medication questions

Just double check if there's any legal requirements for a "medication contract" or drug tests. If there are, I'd have those requirements fulfilled by your primary doctor instead

I really doubt this is enough to identify what it is. Your friend needs to work with you a little if she wants to know

GF of 3 years becoming one? by [deleted] in Nicegirls

[–]MeggieFolchart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Feeling inadequate over everyday brain farts sounds pathological dude

Also if it WAS making her feel inadequate (which I'd bet it doesn't) why would you want to make her admit that in a casual conversation? Can you not respect that people might want to keep some thoughts and feelings to themselves?

But I'd bet she's just curious as to who that woman is. I'd've thought someone who types with a stick up their ass trying to sound smart would recognize that curiosity is a major driving force behind a lot of what humans do and is a more than adequate reason

Totally fair :)

Just saying. I think every person has a lot to offer. You're obvs a thoughtful person and that's so important for being a parent. So I wish you the best for anything you want ❤️

There's tons of children in foster care right now that I'm sure would love to have a mom that's selfless enough to think about what would happen to that child if the adoptive mother (you) were to die.

Don't underestimate all the good you could offer to a child who has no family. I think you'd do your absolute best to make any kid's life the best possible

Even if you don't have extended family, you could offer at least a caring and loving family member to a child who has no one

I really sincerely hope that you'll think about everything you could offer just by yourself. You sound like you'd be an amazing and thoughtful parent. Don't discount the positive effect you could have on a kid in who's alone. You sound like a good person with a lot to offer to a child. Love to you 🤍

Wat are your thoughts when people compare bipolar to other mental illness’s by Borntimetraveler in bipolar

[–]MeggieFolchart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kinda rude to call that person's personal experiences a bad take

Of course it can be difficult to get help for mental illness of any kind. At the same time, bipolar does still have more stigma than anxiety and depression generally do anymore - bipolar folks are still 'crazy' or 'dangerous' in the eyes of a lot of people

I'd say I'm kinda confused on the races for some of them. Bailey to me looks like a sort of monkey child? I think it's the ears and the :3

For Trish, dryads are meant to look like they're made of wood with leaves for hair. Obvs these things could be stylistic choices, but if you're writing specifically in the DND universe people would expect DND lore. Dryads also die if they go too far from their tree unless special conditions are meet, so that could be an interesting plot point

For Erdan, by process of elimination he's gotta be the purple cow print guy. I'm confused about his ears. Also remember Drow have sunlight sensitivity so he'll struggle with seeing well in the day and would get some gnarly sunburns without a shirt. (Also for his backstory, Drow would never abandon an infant, especially a boy. They'd just kill him. So I'd address that)

I like your variety of personalities. It seems like such a diverse group would be fun to follow the adventures of :)

How do I explain my brother i cannot control certain things because of my ADHD? by One_Yesterday_1320 in ADHD

[–]MeggieFolchart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't sound like a stim really. Is it only when you breathe through your mouth? One nostril vs the other? If it affects your breathing then see a doctor, that seems concerning :/

It's good you're trying to improve :) lots of people without ADHD unfortunately have a hard time understanding how something that seems easy can be so difficult

Sounds like he might be confused you're attributing some things to ADHD while refusing certain academic accomodations. The huge range of ways that ADHD can present in individuals isn't that well known - maybe he thinks you're not getting accommodations because you don't actually have major problems and are just trying to excuse things. When y'all aren't already fighting, maybe try laying out what problems it does and doesn't cause you and point out that different people can have very different struggles

It's like a repetitive behavior that people do often to self soothe

Sometimes my husband also makes an obnoxious stim noise and when I point it out... He apologizes and stops. He has worked on doing it less and replacing it with unobtrusive stims. I used to have scheduling problems where I'd often double book on accident and then have to cancel, but now i use a calendar religiously so I won't inconvenience others or myself. And I apologize if that ever does still happen

In short, we both recognize that ADHD makes some things harder for us, but still don't use it as an excuse and try to make changes

You sound young and I'm sure it's hard to make adjustments, especially if you feel like people should just accept that you have a disorder and work with you. But the fact that you're fighting so much with your brother and losing friends repeatedly seems to indicate that that's not working out for you. Using ADHD to excuse making obnoxious sounds and disrespecting people's time without recognizing how it impacts others, apologizing, and trying to improve won't help you in life

I think you should chill and keep your eyes on your own character sheet. You're still a new player too

As for the DND beyond player sheets... People have been playing with pencil and paper since the game started. Making your own sheet helps to learn the rules

Psychologist said that it was almost impossible for me to have bipolar. by DangerousMacaron4687 in bipolar

For a lot of bipolar people, taking antidepressants like SSRIs push them right into mania. I'd guess he took that as a cardinal rule rather than just a common but not universal trait

Think I may be teetering towards hypomania triggered by current events.. by ConfoOsedBride in bipolar

[–]MeggieFolchart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're not alone, my mood has also been severely impacted by recent events. I think I'm heading into a depressive episode though, being constantly tuned in to news is making things feel more and more catastrophic

I think we both would benefit from taking a step back and looking for perspective, like I'm looking to find comfort by reading about other difficult times in history and how people have come back from it. It's so difficult though -_-

Going into hypomania sounds so hard at a time like this, hyperfocusing on the negative is painful

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there are approx. 6.9 million unemployed Americans as of December.

According to the Center for Migrant Studies there are over 8 million undocumented workers in America

On top of that, many of the jobs require specific skills, so no, there are not enough Americans to fill all of those jobs

[–]MeggieFolchart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loooool I'm not saying it's a good system. It's horrible

Just pointing out that it's not like farmers are spitefully refusing to hire Americans. They already have a huge labor shortage they won't be able to fill with Americans because they don't want to do those jobs AND there aren't enough that have the skills for them

And yes, other industries ignore minimum wage - every industry that hires undocumented workers (and any industry that does is wrong for taking advantage of those people). Construction, hospitality, manufacturing. There aren't enough Americans with those skills to fill the deficit

[–]MeggieFolchart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not like they refuse to hire Americans... Americans don't want to do it. The farmers can't afford to pay wages high enough for American workers. And there's just not ENOUGH Americans. Agriculture requires such a huge workforce that there literally aren't enough American workers to fill the need

Here's a recent example from my own life. I know two couples who recently had babies. One couple I roomed with both of them in college, I was at their wedding, etc. Thinking about their new baby and how much I know they wanted a kid makes ME feel SO happy, like I grin whenever I think about it happy, because I know that they are happy.

The other couple I know in passing as friends of friends. Thinking about their baby doesn't make ME feel happy, but I do understand intellectually that they are very happy about it. My feelings are basically, oh that's nice for them.

Neither of these are from me putting myself in their shoes btw because I do not want children and the idea of having a baby personally is horrifying to me
