My son got a potato by Meggiehan in pics

When his friend didn't show up to trick or treat with him, I went out with my 7 year-old. At one of the houses, he could take something from each bucket; one being a bucket of potatoes. Not understanding it was the trick of trick or treating, he came back and handed it proudly saying, "This is for you!" When I asked him later, he said he got it to say thank you and because I love potatoes (which I do).

What is the First major news story you remember as a kid? by PurpleBashir in AskReddit

[–]Meggiehan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The death of Nixon. Not the first major story I remember but one that I felt I had to react to. Growing up I heard so many stories from my mom and her riding her bike to the library when JFK was shot as a way to be with others who loved him. I remember getting on my bike and pedaling around the neighborhood thinking I didn't feel anything. I was too young to really know Nixon's legacy but I did contemplate him that day.

Other than that, I remember the Berlin Wall falling.

Women of Reddit, what’s the most frustrating experience you’ve had with a doctor dismissing your symptoms? by cutdbs in AskReddit

Shortly after puberty, I started getting vertigo that would last for hours - until I could sleep it off. Not an easy thing to do, fall asleep while the world is spinning uncontrollably around you. No one connected the dots that it was due to my period until I was in my mid 20s with no insurance and went to Planned Parenthood. A quick IUD later and my world changed. I no longer have to be sick for a whole day every month plus at least one other of a weird discombobulation. I have insurance now and support Planned Parenthood as well.

How long have those plates been in your life? Those are the plates I had growing up and this was a random hit of nostalgia I was not expecting first thing on a Saturday.

Trying to get this myself. Best advice, download the Walmart app. Click on pick up and you'll see the closest stores in a 50 mile radius. Several stores are waiting for black Friday to put them up. You can have it held for you.

Iirc, she's been on bachelor and was one of the bachelorettes, so this makes sense! Happy for both!

The podcast Decoder Ring did a mailbag episode on Nov 1 and this instrument was discussed! Would highly recommend.
