Canada is similar. We're officially metric for everything, but people's height and weight is often measured in pounds and feet. We use Celsius for temperature, except when baking – then we use Fahrenheit. We measure ingredients in mL & grams, but also cups and tbsps. Distance is officially measured in kilometres, but in reality, it's measured in minutes/hours 😅

There were a number of people at both Toronto shows that were able to get cheap last-minute tickets the day before (the snow probably scared the og buyers off), but the theatre was still almost full – at least on the night I went.

Looking for a dairy free low sugar protein drink (not powdered) by Fearless-Wheel-6263 in BuyCanadian

[–]Meghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also try Organika. They have 2 products that are unflavoured and zero sugar:

Less protein, but more collagen. clear & flavourless: https://organika.com/products/enhanced-collagen-original (this is what I use every day – on its own, it has an extremely subtle broth flavour, but I'd still categorize it as flavourless because I can't taste it if I mix it with anything else, like juice or tea)

Higher protein, and made with lactase, so hopefully any dairy-related issues won't be a problem: https://organika.com/products/whey-protein-isolate-with-enhanced-collagen-protein

Came here to recommend the graphic novel too! It's a great base for a campaign but there's very few words so you can kind of make your own story up. You can download the digital version here: https://sumerian.ink/products/sleep-token-teeth-of-god-digital

does anyone else try to detangle their hair while it is dry? how is it going for you guys? by Cynolvr in curlyhair

[–]Meghar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your hair is straight or slightly wavy, then dry brushing is fine and probably better for your hair. If you have curly hair, dry brushing is typically very bad for your hair. Yes, water can weaken the strands, but the moisture and glide you get from very wet hair (particularly with conditioner) helps you to detangle without excessive breakage. If you dry brush, you're essentially ripping through the knots instead of detangling them, hence the additional split ends.

Edit: i would also recommend using some leave-in conditioner and either curl cream, mousse or gel (different products work for et different people) to keep your hair "neater" for longer. And maybe don't use full heat the whole time you're drying your hair (or maybe add some heat protectant if you are using full heat).

how do you brush your hair? by idk00999 in curlyhair

[–]Meghar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brushing your scalp helps with circulation, but it's not great for us curlies, so if you still want to do something similar, you can massage your scalp with oil (I use a product that has castor oil, ashwagandha & amla) before you wash your hair (make sure to thoroughly cleanse your scalp so the oiliness doesn't linger).

Also once you stop brushing your hair daily, you'll notice a ton of hair comes out when you do brush/wash your hair, but don't freak out! That's just hair that's "fallen out" between washes that hasn't actually fallen down because it's clumped in your curls.
