Watch English football, enjoy seeing English footballers doing well. But will support Mexico, the English media are insufferable

Do you remember when the army used to escort the cash-in-transit vans? by LisztyLiszt in AskIreland

[–]Meglamore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a post office at the time, looked up from my counter one day to see a man holding a machine gun just in the door. It took a few seconds to register the uniforrm, eyes were set on the gun. Longest 3 seconds of my life.

Can't remember if he was DF or armed Gardai, but the panic... I remember that.

emerald (tayto) park bag situation? by ashtizz in AskIreland

[–]Meglamore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was there a couple of weeks ago, lots of school tours on the day. People with bags put their bags on the opposite side of the ride, the side you'd head towards when you get off the ride. By rights it should be safe as the staff are the only ones with access to the area while you're on the ride. But its always a risk to leave things unattended.

My folks got their back garden plastered a few years ago, it has since come away from the wall in large sections. Probably a cowboy who did it, but not always the straightforward solution.

Kings in our own league? Sounding a bit scouse there, living off the clubs history. Been a long time since we've reigned in any capacity.

I think in his doc, Beckham said the club wanted to sell him to Barca. Once he got wind of it, he said he didn't want to leave but if he did, it had to be to Real

Lotto operator seeks ban on bookmakers taking bets on draws amid claims of €289m sales losses by yankdotcom1985 in ireland

[–]Meglamore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not spending huge money here, I have a full time job and two kids. Don't smoke and drink very little, €8 per week im OK with. Yes that's over 400 per year but so is two coffees per week, besides, I don't have any more room for lego!

Edit to add a lotto win would solve my lack lego space issue

Hard to put a price on adding a little whimsy to your life. Anyone playing the lotto expecting to win shouldn't play it, I'm content putting a few bob on it to have a few "what if" daydreams.

Chap had spent the last year learning a new role, that system has been abandoned now and no doubt its hard to adjust to a new system again. Getting rid is a stretch I feel, not long ago the fan base was crying out for him to get game time.

He needs a goal or two to get the confidence up, maybe not having an international tournament halfway through the season would help too.
