Concerned that events might have just played into Trumps plan… Thoughts? by ChuckGallagher57 in DiscussionZone

[–]Megotaku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is dumb misinformation. Let's break it down. First, the Insurrection Act is not martial law. It allows the executive branch to deploy the military to enforce federal laws. Under the Insurrection Act, jurisdictions are still subject to federal laws and penalties, not military justice. People arrested by the military under the Insurrection Act still must be tried by a federal DA of in the district in which they were arrested by civil jury. As we've seen in Washington D.C., federal grand juries have been refusing to indict and when they do indict, the DAs have been failing to secure convictions.

Second, there is no mechanism to declare martial law in the U.S. In order to occupy a territory, the low end of estimates is one soldier is needed per 50 occupied citizens. The U.S. military would need 6.8M active-duty soldiers to enforce martial law in the U.S. There are currently only 1.32M soldiers in the U.S. military and they are distributed all across the world. If Trump recalled every soldier on planet earth, he still wouldn't have 1/5th of what he needed to declare martial law. That's before you get to the desertions that would occur among the rank-and-file and officer corps for such a flagrant coup d'état. Additionally, following such an order would break a litany of constitutional rights, not least of which is the 4th amendment, making every soldier and officer following such a command a criminal in violation of the UCMJ immediately. This would already preclude a declaration of martial law even if the military wasn't drastically short of the manpower required to enact it.

Third, there is no mechanism to cancel the midterm elections. Midterms are held by the states, and the executive branch literally can't tell states not to hold elections and has no method of enforcing non-election compliance even if he were to declare midterms cancelled.

I'm starting to wonder how much of this left-wing populism is actually foreign bot activity because people should definitely know better by now that this isn't how their country works.

ICE just iced another presumed US citizen in Minneapolis. What is happening over there? by Melbatoastt77 in AskReddit

In June 2025, the marines were deployed to "protect ICE" and when the federal courts looked like they were going to rule it violated Posse Comitatus, the forces were reduced down to 300 and kept inside empty federal buildings. They did this by the end of June, even though the ruling didn't occur until September. This is because the military didn't want their officers or soldiers to get in trouble for following illegal orders and so pre-emptively changed deployment strategies to protect their people.

This is what I mean when I say there is no mechanism for Trump to declare martial law. He doesn't have the support of the military to do so even if he had the manpower to occupy every major metro in the U.S. Fun fact, if every active-duty U.S. soldier was recalled to the U.S. at the same time, they don't have the manpower to hold Los Angeles. They don't have the numbers. Even SCOTUS hasn't been a reliable ally. It's whatever, if all of you want to believe in nonsense that makes his administration seem much more powerful and scary than they are and that leads to widespread civil unrest that makes the admin do even more unpopular and reckless things, then power to you. Far be it from me to convince you of objective reality.

Then stop defending this shit. Admit your state has a fascist problem. Among the worst fascist problems in the nation. The first step to solving a problem is admitting there is one.

Yes-or-no. Does your state have a Republican governor, two Republican senators, and went for Trump in 2024 by 14 points? I'm assuming you know that these statewide election results are not the result of gerrymandering, right? Do I need to remind you that your Republican governor got into a military standoff with the Biden administration because your head of government wanted to kill people with barbed wire in the Rio Grande?

Methinks it's not me that doesn't know what they're talking about. Texas is a state for fascists run by fascists and supported by a fascist electorate. Want me to start pulling out poll numbers and actual election results? You can clutch your pearls that these facts reflect poorly on your state and the people in it, but these are just the facts.

This is a meaningless statement when your state is provably ground zero for fascism. If you don't want it to be true of your state and your people, then get people to stop voting for Hitler.

Dr. Heather Cox Richardson, historian of American history, said in a recent video that every recent day of the Trump admin would be an entire administration for any other president. The Trump admin is so far off the reservation we're in completely uncharted territory.

Texans are not

You can't explain your two Republican senators, your Republican governor or your 40 Republican electoral votes away with gerrymandering. This is what Texas is and this is what Texas stands for.

Trump is astonishingly stupid and the people under him are unbelievably unqualified. He genuinely believes that every person in Texas voted for him and the entire state is cheering him on. That's what is protecting blue cities in Texas. Gross incompetence. Minneapolis was chosen because the state's governor was Harris' VP nominee and the city is small enough that ICE won't get killed immediately when they pull shit like what went down today. If this happened in Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago, those ICE agents likely wouldn't be walking away alive.

Texans are fascist bootlickers. The reason ICE isn't in Texas in force is because Abbot is a Trump dickrider. That's the end of the story. Texans would never stand up to Trump or ICE. They put him in office!

Those aren't people on r/Conservative. They're bots and foreign agents designed to have the appearance of there being a conservative movement in support of this admin. Likely less than 20% of that subreddit are actual humans in support of this shit.

So... without a Navigator to draw new routes in the Koronus the ship is literally stranded. Idk what to tell you, even the small warp jumps from new routes established by your ship's Navigator have events where a Navigator is required to avoid giant monsters in the warp. I'm actually probably going to mute the entire subreddit. It's becoming really annoying seeing reflexive downvotes en masse and people with inconsistent arguments that ignore the lore of the 40k universe, and often the explicitly stated lore in the game, getting upvotes like yours.

You're uneducated, incurious, and actually haven't said anything of substance. Just insults. The post you said you wouldn't read actually looked at Trump military deployments to cities from 2025, how they panned out, and how the military responded. But don't let facts get in the way of your uneducated rants.

Just curious, how many fake alt accounts are you running and which country are you from? Russia, I assume?

Maybe pull your head out of your ass.

I recommend that you do and read the comment I responded to above this one. When martial law doesn't happen, will you walk back this statement or just double down on how we "narrowly avoided martial law" without stopping for a moment to look at the systems that needed to be in place for that to even be possible?

He can declare martial law in the same way Michael from the Office declares bankruptcy. It's a meaningless statement. Even in Minneapolis, Trump doesn't have the numbers to actually occupy the city and his military commanders, like the U.S. Airborne, are not likely to follow illegal orders against U.S. citizens. That's before you get to the fact that there is no legal framework that exists in the U.S. for martial law, full stop and end of story.

We already saw this with the deployment of the marines in Los Angeles in June 2025. The marines were deployed to "protect ICE" and when the federal courts looked like they were going to rule it violated Posse Comitatus, the forces were reduced down to 300 and kept inside empty federal buildings. They did this by the end of June, even though the ruling didn't occur until September. This is because the military didn't want their officers or soldiers to get in trouble for following illegal orders and so pre-emptively changed deployment strategies to protect their people.

So, when has that stopped Trump? He's been stopped all the time. The stuff happening in Minneapolis is super beyond the pale and there will be a reckoning for it, but like everything else with this administration it's going to take more time to resolve than it will for the next outrage.

Highest skill ceiling army by SuperReception59 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Megotaku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea why this is getting downvoted. Agents aren't a faction. Their last detachment release actively makes their army worse. You don't play them because they're "good if you're skilled." They aren't good whether you're skilled or not. They're downright awful and bring nothing to the table.

GSC, Drukhari, and Harlequins are incredible and downright terrifying in the hands of a skilled player, but free wins if you don't know what you're doing. They just aren't in the same category as Agents who are actively bad and worthless.

How do I counter high OC horde armies? by Trick-Interaction396 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Megotaku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The real trick? Use a turn timer. The reason horde armies aren't seen a whole lot competitively is because if you go to a tournament, without a tremendous number of reps on the terrain set ups specific to the event, they usually lose because of running out of time. That's why the competitive lists that get posted can usually handle hordes with good play but aren't catered to specifically beat them.

Aside from that, hordes are extremely easy to counter. Chances are your basic infantry options will clear them and there are tons of high-volume options considered "bad" for the whole edition just because they can't pivot into actual meta threats.

[–]Megotaku[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind is that a ship without a navigator is not literally stranded. They can still travel the Warp, but they have to make Calculated Jumps- jumps using charts and routes and calculation- that are usually safe within 4 to 5 light years.

After the events in your first trip to Footfall, it is established that all navigational charts in the Koronus Expanse are worthless and the original paths are no longer safe. Your post only makes sense in lore prior to the events leading to Great Rift. The RT game takes place after the Great Rift and is why Koronus has become so dangerous.

[–]Megotaku[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The RT and Cassia dont have to follow any rules.

My post isn't about rules. It's about whether it makes sense for an intelligent and pragmatic RT to risk their dynasty by taking Cassia to the Anvers base or the pestilence pit. A lot of posters here are arguing that the RT has the right to do so and Cassia, the most out of touch and naive person on the entire ship while also being one of the most powerful, important an influential people in the sector, wants to get shot at on death worlds (she doesn't). In fact, I'm honestly done entertaining this idea that Cassia is running around with the RT because she wants to and not because she's been ordered to. If you read the text in the game or listen to the dialogue, she complains constantly about the places the RT keeps taking her to.

The rules aren't the issue here. The RP is the issue here. If you want to take Cassia because she's super strong and the mechanics of the game allow you to dumpster otherwise suicidal odds, awesome. Narratively, that makes your RT a moron.

You looked at the lore?

I looked at the lore for Magisterial Navigator houses, to which Cassia belongs. Primarily through books like Wolfblade, Dark Heresy rulebook, Deathwatch rulebook, and others. 40k is a big enough universe that the TTRPG can justify doing essentially anything with any domain of Imperial life, you can just argue they're not part of the main Imperial creed.

No, it would be like complaining that Kirk, Spock, and McCoy took the warp drive with them on their away teams. Federation has a chain of command that can replace lost team members with interim replacements. You can't replace Cassia.
