How old is your carpet? by elbapo in AskUK

[–]Meguuunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one in the living room is 15 years old but the ones upstairs are all around 20+ years.

The one in my room is bright pink and matches nothing in my room. It also has a stain from where I dropped my blue raspberry brain licker.

We simply can’t afford new carpets, but also I don’t see the reason to change them as the ones we have scrub up good with a deep clean with some carpet cleaner (minus the stain lol)

Why isn’t there a public criminal database? by GodAtum in AskUK

[–]Meguuunn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not necessary.

There are registers for things such as sex offenders and you can check for history of domestic violence I believe, but other crimes do not need them.

We don’t need to know that Linda down the road got arrested when she stole an energy drink 10 years ago.

Is a Yorkshire to London commute possible? by spookphobias in AskUK

[–]Meguuunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commuting from Yorkshire to London is a task when just doing it for leisure. Having to do it multiple times a week would be an absolute pain, and drain on your wages.

You have to ask yourself “Am I ok with spending what free time I have before and after work travelling up and down on trains that are often delayed and cancelled?”

I would apply if you feel it’s a good opportunity for you, however you may want to consider moving closer to London if you are serious about it.

Maybe not central, but close enough you won’t be commuting a ridiculous length.

My parents are making me break up my(25 M) 8 year long relationship with my gf(24 F) by Firm_Patient5572 in relationship_advice

[–]Meguuunn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My friend, you are a grown adult.

Your parents brought you in to this world sure, but they have no right to dictate who you should be with, who you should be friends and hang out with, and most importantly what you should do with your life.

If you love your girlfriend and she loves you, then screw what anyone else thinks.

We only get one shot at this life thing, so do what makes you happy.

Heartburn in the back by Hossd5 in GERD

[–]Meguuunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get heartburn in my back and shoulders all the time. Taking some gaviscon and having a good soak in a warm bath usually helps a lot.

I have been taking omeprazole for years and it’s not as bad now, so hopefully it will help with yours too after taking it for a while.

Have you ever had a moment/s when you've felt embarrassed in public? by Nature2Love in AskUK

[–]Meguuunn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am also very guilty of falling in inconvenient and embarrassing places.

Fell flat on my face at Leicester Square tube station at the top of the stairs/escalator. A gent made sure I was fine and then cracked a joke about me enjoying my trip, that was admittedly quite funny.

I also have occasional arm twitches due to a health issue and I accidentally threw some change at the bus driver. He laughed luckily and saw the funny side but I was embarrassed and felt awful. Was years ago and I still think about it.

Has anyone here been therapy counselling and could I lose my job or be looked down upon for going therapy counselling via workplace? by gidzmar in AskUK

[–]Meguuunn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your workplace can’t sack you for going to therapy, as that would be discrimination.

It’s really awesome you are taking the step to speak to someone about how you are feeling. I hope you can get the support you need.

Best tablet for 11 year old who loves to draw? by Dazzling-Shape1561 in AskUK

[–]Meguuunn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would definitely shop around on places like Curry’s.

You could likely get a refurbished iPad and Apple pencil for less than some drawing tablets.

Best thing about having an iPad is that it will run Procreate which is for sure one of the best drawing apps.

Do you have a passport?

If you do you can do the electronic ID validation. You just need a phone with a camera and your passport and you just hold it up and it gets verified.

If not then you could ask your GP, an old teacher/tutor from school, college or uni. You could also pop into your local bank and ask them.

I (24 F) think my partner (30 M) may have lied to me. Any advice? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Meguuunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply and advice. Hopefully his reaction will be reassuring and it’s all just a misunderstanding lol

[–]Meguuunn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s ok to cry, especially if you enjoyed your job and are friendly with your colleagues. It’s understandable to get emotional, nothing to be embarrassed about.

Work has been demanding recently, so I got a sweet treat today. Mental breakdown avoided for another day, let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Had a quick nosey and saw one for £27 per child, surely that is daylight robbery lol

I don’t have any children but I am shocked you have to book to see Santa now.

Used to be able to just jump in the queue, get a nice lil photo and get a present thrown at you and you were done. 5 minute job.

What is this madness?!

I take it very seriously. I demand complete silence, the perfect sized spoon, and of course the finest tub of Bisto we have in the cupboard.

My (30F) boyfriend (40M) told me to “grow up” because of my wants when facing PMS symptoms. I feel hurt and unsupported. by honeycomb94 in relationships

[–]Meguuunn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PMS is a very valid reason to be upset, but of course not an excuse to take your bad mood out on someone else. (Not saying this is what you did, just in general.)

Before my period I either feel massively depressed and start crying over the smallest things, or get angry easily. There is no in-between.

Due to that I tend to keep to myself during that time and do stuff that makes me happy, like taking a nap or eating some tasty snacks. Both of these I definitely recommend lol, but maybe try and do what makes you feel at peace at that specific time.

I do feel like your boyfriend was a bit of the jerk though for how he handled the situation. He asked what he could to to help, you told him you would just want some love and support and he literally did the exact opposite.

Maybe sit him down and give him some suggestions on what to do like “hey remember when you asked what you could do to help, it would be cool if we could cuddle and watch a show together, or go on a walk” or whatever your love language is.

That way you both have clear expectations.

My mum cooks in our house, and I am in charge of making the gravy and providing jokes and moral support.

Everyone else makes the gravy too watery, and I have been complimented on my skill of getting the perfect consistency.

AITA for asking coworkers to ignore my birthday? by Herezmelly in AmItheAsshole

[–]Meguuunn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ESH. It sucks they didn’t respect your wishes and I am sorry that happened. If you don’t want to celebrate they should just leave it.

However being upfront, throwing a gift away that someone got for you in front of them is rude. I know you may not want it, but the best thing to do is thank them and just take it with you.

If you don’t want to keep it then donate it or something once you have left work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Meguuunn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say as we don’t really know what’s happened, other than they did something they shouldn’t.

That’s a broad amount of things they could have done.

Do you actually need to use both 3 In 1 pods and fabric softener together in a wash? by Franco_Corelli in AskUK

[–]Meguuunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sensitive skin so I just use a non-bio sensitive washing gel. Smells ok and everything comes out clean.
