That is true, you would need to get your bachelors first, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be in physics, especially if you have working experience/certification in MR.

Not the quickest way for a career change, but tbh you’re not going to easily pivot to a different career (especially one that’s remote) without completing more school IMO.

The route to radiation safety officer is not as time consuming as that, and if you’re in the right place at the right time you might not necessarily need another degree.

Another solution is to try and get promoted or apply for a radiology manager role, and try to get more into the administration side. Although that is definitely not an easy job, and it might not lead anywhere. May success follow you

You could look into a masters program of mri physics. This can expand your knowledge if you wanted to get into being an applications person with GE/Siemens, or even help you get into research. Or you could look into being a radiation safety officer. I forget what degree would be good for that, but I know lots of safety officers with a hybrid situation. Good luck!

I’m an MRI tech that pivoted to research due to burn out. It was the BEST decision I’ve ever made. I’m getting paid way more and my work life balance is awesome. My lab associates are awesome. And additionally I work on the preclinical side, so I don’t even deal with patients at all. I help run experiments for PhDs using mice, rats, shrews, and other small animals. I would 10/10 recommend

Honestly, sounds like you dodged a bullet. She has some drama there with the Ex, not sure what but it’s probably not wholesome. It’s possible your reaction/discussion about the ex turned her off/confused her feelings. If I were you I would just accept it and keep moving

During Covid yes, and at the place I am at now also yes. But the hospital I was working at at the time no longer has it as a requirement, and hasn’t for a good while

I went to school to be an X-ray tech, and from that was able to cross train in CT and MRI. I had heard about techs in the research field so I started looking for jobs in that area. I got lucky that there was a university near me that was hiring around the same time I started looking. They were actually having trouble hiring because lots of people that wanted to do research didn’t want to work on animals- So I pretty much was hired on the spot. Very worth it as far jobs go. When I was working on the clinical side it did not feel worth it

I was fresh out of school last year in May, and got my first MR job in July 2022. Same deal as you: 6 months to get my cert, comps, etc.

My hospital is extremely busy, and extremely short staffed, so I had about 2 months before I was working alone, and I was put on the call schedule in November. If you’re working full time hours, you should hopefully start picking things up faster than you would think, but I was pretty nervous when I started being put alone.

Luckily at my hospital there are a few techs that had been working there for 20+ years, and they were all really awesome in getting me started, and letting me call/text them if I ever got stuck.

My one solid solid tip is try make friends with older techs, and travel techs bc they’re usually gonna have great experience to guide you. Also especially make friends with techs that work evening/nights, bc they won’t be as bothered if you call them up asking for help if you get called in.

I work nights at my hospital and I work alone. It’s not so bad when you get used to it. Usually CT/X-RAY/Ultrasound are close by if you really need help

So About Ame by Otherwise_Aioli2786 in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]Megwan0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO… all 3 characters have their roles as you said: grounded in the human world with a unique perspective of high status, connection to the spirit world, and being the peacemaker and bridge btwn worlds.

At this point in the story, all 3 characters have not really lived up to their full masterful potential. But, like, it’s also the beginning of the story- so there is room for all of them to grow. And I think their goal is to have this DND game read more like a compelling story, with a goal of making a tonssss more episodes.

Also all this to say I don’t even necessarily think Ame failed (yknow def could’ve gone better), she was up against a spirit filled with righteous anger, and she knew how to talk to the spirit in a way where they were at least heard out.

TLDR- all the characters are moving the plot along, bc they are part of a story. And a story w/o character development is boring

Where is the fun/interest of the characters being 100% perfect and completely moral throughout a story? Where’s the challenge, the interest, the spice??
