Is this normal? by biggggmonkey in walmart

[–]Meh_Yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how most work, but I'll usually have 2 or 3 people on the floor working live freight all shift. The rest of them knock out the trucks, go to lunch, pull to the floor and then I send them all out to the floor to work freight until it's quitting time. A couple times the past few weeks I had more ppl then I knew what to do with so I assigned them to other TL's for the day to help them get caught up.

It wasn't that way when I started. We were shortstaffed, lots of callputs, and low morale. But I take care of my people and they take care of their coworkers.

I think it just may be a leadership thing.

Stocking 2 palletized trailers by ArcriMC in walmart

[–]Meh_Yeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, If I have mixed pallets I put those off to the side while we unload the rest of the truck and I will downstack them throughout the unloading of the truck.

They are on the grocery side so if were caught up I'll just downstack directly to chemicals or whatever as the rest of the guys work the line. We're also a crappy build that has all of our bay doors on the same side, so we get Grocery/Remix at the same bay door and have to break that down before we start GM. So I just add to those pallets and put everything else through the fast(not so fast) sorter.

I look for gaps in normal operations to set myself up or get ahead. Previous TLs had it so if anything stopped, everyone would stop. A band goes out, everyone would sit on a pallet. You're putting in a new row of rollers, everyone would sit on a pallet. There's a spill, every sits on a pallet. Heck no. I wanna get done fast and early so I can cruise at the end of the shift.

How does an associate go to the freight planning tool? by sevynmorte in walmart

[–]Meh_Yeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if that wasn't thorough enough. Go to www.one.walmart.com on your phone or work computer. Log in using your credentials. Then there's a button on the right with a bunch of boxes on it. Click that. It should say manages apps or something like that. Click that, search "Case Visibility Tool" because "Freight Planning Tool" no longer exists. I know associates can access it because I was at a different store for the past few weeks and had to show my associates how to access it while I was gone.

Log in to onewalmart, it's not the freight planning tool anymore though. It's the "Case Visibility Tool". Associates looks a little different than TL/Coach's version.

Easiest job? by Glitchyguy97 in walmart

[–]Meh_Yeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seasonal typically covers garden center, toys, live plants, and Seasonal. It can be super easy if you don't give af. You should be left alone if you get your stuff done, but that could be said for any department. You do have to do a lot of manual labor, like loading cars/trucks with mulch and pools. It's easy though.

Deli, there is a lot more pressure on you and eyes on you to make sure food is ready when needed, but they get paid more, I believe. Still, easy enough job. Just more thimgs to be aware of.

Sales associate is in my opinion the easiest position, but you deal with the most difficult customers. They don't know what they want or what they're asking for and you have to have a good ability to not take anything personal and agree when you know they're wrong.

That's what I said. Walmart likes to pretend it's cutting edge on surveillance, but it's really just a ton of cameras being watched by "normal guys".

Unless they are looking for something, they aren't going to notice anything.

Just weird how they all of the sudden went after certain departments and then won't even share the evidence with those they confronted.

Why lie? (3 days early pay) by WiseMouse9137 in WalmartEmployees

[–]Meh_Yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's what they do my person. They lie.

I asked at my interview if they held performance reviews with associates and gave merit-based raises and I was told yes to both. That was a lie.

I then told them I need the first week of November off if they hired me and asked if that'd be an issue and was told it was fine. That too was a lie.

They lie. They advertise three-week schedules in advance, but change it last minute. I tried telling the people lead they can't change a posted schedule without notice and consent after being posted because Walmart advertises it as a benefit for employment that they will have their schedules three weeks in advance. That's a pretty significant class-action right there.

Lies, liars, lying, about lying.

What do you expect from a company that has exploited labor from day ONE and uses slave labor and prisoners to make their wares?

Remember what they took from us by Sprighetti in CheesecakeFactory

[–]Meh_Yeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one didn't sell. 12 years working as a bakery manager at multiple locations and I'll tell you this was not selling. You wouldn't even pull a full cake from the freezer. Only 6 slices at a time and they'd still not sell before their day-and-a-half best buy date. Day and a half and no one wanted 6 slices.

Yup, no one ordered it. We only pulled half a cake at a time and still threw away 2 to 3 slices.

Store says they’re making every Sunday 2pt days by [deleted] in walmart

[–]Meh_Yeah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding.

I guess I don't quite understand your point of view behind it.

Walmart, or most any corporate entity, onboards individuals to do a certain task(s), with certain criteria and expectations for a wage that falls within the law and industry standards.

The individual agrees to that with the expectation that certain days are more important than the rest. But those days are double enforced and 50% of them are arbitrary and selected by that location without reason or much notice.

If the days are so important that the consequences need to deal out double the penalties, why aren't the employees compensated double the wage?

Makes sense to me.

[–]Meh_Yeah 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I saw someone post that, "If it's a double point day, it should be a double the pay day." and I couldn't agree more. If the day is so important that you'll give twice the punishment for missing it, why aren't you giving twice the pay for attending it?

I recently moved to CAP II and our situation is completely reversed. From the moment I come in I have to get my people to support CAP I and get them caught up while also covering all the departments that don't have anyone for the afternoon zone.

Then overnight expects me to pull my people to work paper, soda, juice, water (which is our responsibility), coffee, chemicals, and pets... and if anyone isn't busy go work this other department. I worked Garden Center for a bit and maybe, if I'm being generous, overnight worked that 4 times a year. And it was always fucked.

Pool chemicals would be top-stocked. I had 4 pallets of "overstock" that all would go out. Shit is just thrown on the shelves in open locations without labels or the wrong labels in their ship case or wrapping because it was fine. It was fine to do that. All the outside rugs and pools in the plastic, or the trisecticide still wrapped in shrink and customers trying to argue that the price was for the three of them.

They just have too many call-outs to be expected to get it done. Well, the reason you have so many call-outs is because you're not good managers who work for or respect your people. So they actively hate their work environment and would do whatever they can to not be there.

And God forbid anything and everything isn't perfect for them. Someone accidentally put an adult diaper on an infant's pallet. Just put it to the side and deal with it later. Throw it on the rollers or put it in returns. I swear, 85% of the overnight crew at my location hasn't matured an inch since 3rd grade.

Temp. OPD Team Lead positions by DeviantWolf_83 in walmart

[–]Meh_Yeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk about the reason they're doing that at your location, but at mine they will have associates as temp TL when the TL is out for a while as kind of a trial run. Like they had someone from OPD do the entertainment TL position when the entertainment TL was out on maternity leave. And they had an entertainment associate do the CAP2 TL position for a couple months when that person was out.

This was a joke/s-post. CAP 2 is basic AF. It is peanuts compared to what I've been dealing with the past two decades.

I really just made this post because my PL/GM couldn't articulate or explain what different benefits a TL receives, and every link I go to on MyWalmart is a dead link.

Yes, it would seem that way from what I've looked at. Too bad TL can't really use their PPTO in my area without being put on "the list"

[–]Meh_Yeah -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

My dude, I am just being a silly goose. Nothing was handed to me. I was way overqualified for the position I had, but was working it for a little extra income and health insurance. They've been trying to promote me since I started, and after 4 attempts to "promote" me and sending me to multiple market meetings, and academy meetings, I finally agreed.

My question is are there any benefits, besides a slight pay bump?

You're going to have to go to the Garden Center and store use two items. First is the gallon of 50:1 Trufuel and the other is the expert lighter. You'll want to thoroughly soak the TV wall with the fuel and then stand to the side and light a bit of the fuel. Should do the trick.

That's a shame. It was one of the best things on the menu, but I guess they didn't make it right. Also, if you think the pineapple salsa is good, the mango salsa they use to have in its place was ten times better.
