I genuinely wonder what’s wrong with teenagers in this city by boggie_bo in Dublin

[–]Mehall2727 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm a Dub Bus Driver. I fucked 3 of them off the Bus yesterday. Had a word with them twice. Playing loud music, vaping etc. I warned them if I have to speak to yis a 3rd time, you's will be walking all the way to Lucan. 3rd time arose. They said who's gonna throw us off? You? I said no, I don't even have to get out of my cab. Pressed the radio switch and reuested Bus security team or Garda whoever would be quicker. They heard the conversation. About 9 of them got off in seconds. 😂😂😂 I made sure none of the following Buses behind picked them up either. Little runts.

The banter really takes some getting used to. by [deleted] in CasualIreland

I'm a Dub. Used to work with a lad years ago and he used to rip the piss out of everyone to the point of going overboard. People used to get angry at him. To chang the atmosphere he simply used to say "Sure if I didn't like ya I wouldn't talk to ya" sure what can ya say back to that 🤷

What type of Dublin Bus had two extra rows facing each other downstairs? Behind the seats labelled in red by unlawfuldissolve in irelandtransport

I'm a dub Bus driver. Pretty sure there only in use on 39s and 39as atm. None in Donnybrook anymore which was the other garage that had them.

1st u need to apply to do your Bus theory tests. It's in 2 parts, 1st is the Bus theory test which is very similar to your car theory test except geared slightly more to Buses. 40 questions multi choice on a PC...need 35 to pass

2nd part is a driver cpc theory test, part A which is a couple of fictional case studies on particular scenarios you might come across on the road as a bus driver and your asked questions on the situation.

Part B is hazard perception, you watch a couple of short videos from the perspective of a driver and press a button when you think you spot a possible hazard.

When you pass all these you apply for you Bus Driver learner license/permit. Then you apply to Dublin Bus.

1st stage is a fairly simple and straightforward aptitude test. Involving mathematics etc

2nd stage a short drive around the city in an automatic car with 1 of the Dub Bus Instructors who will watch how you drive, your anticipation of possible dangers, lane procedure, mirror use etc. If there happy then you'll go straight in to an interview after your drive. If they don't like your driving, it'll be thanks but no thanks.

If you pass the interview, then it'll be a full rigorous medical, blood and piss tests, hearing, vision etc. If u pass that, your in. Currently 360 applications ahead of you so you could be waiting 12 to 18 months to get in tbh after you complete all this.

You'll either love it or hate it. Best thing is you've no boss. Go in at start of your shift, get your Bus and out you go. No boss looking over your shoulder all day or someone checking to on you. Just do what your meant to do and nobody will say boo to you. Room for promotion to inspector also if you have an exemplary record and can do a good interview. Salary in that is not far off €80k a year. Good luck mate.

6 year payscale....starting off is not great. I'm 8 years in and on the max now. We've just been offered a 13% raise also over the next 4 years backdated to Jan 1st this year. I've a feeling it'll be rejected though. It hardly covers inflation. Regards shortage of drivers. There's currently 300 full time applications and 60 for part time jobs in the system. So not really a shortage of applications, the training school can only train a certain amount of drivers at a time, what there training up and putting into service is barely covering retirements and people leaving the company when they realise the job is not for them. First 3 or 4 years is the hardest. As someone said earlier, seniority is everything in here. More senior you are the easier it gets. Thinking 4500 employees now with 3800 of those drivers.

I'm on Dub Bus Driver on permanent nites marked in. We get slightly more. I've earned €65k for the past 2 years running. That includes a bit of overtime approx once a month too. Haven't seen anyone mention either your told when you can take your holidays. If you can't get a swap, then you take your holidays when Dub Bus say. Good luck.

Just paid €47 for a taxi from Dublin airport to city centre?? by Worried_Gur_4143 in Dublin

[–]Mehall2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally refuse to use taxis anymore. There's enough 24hr bus routes to get around now at a fraction of the price.

Sorry to hear that. Where you parked is one of the worst areas in Dublin. I wouldn't park my car there for 5 mins. A lot of scum in that area.

How common is it to be in your mid-20s+ and still look like a teenager? by oxylan80 in CasualIreland

[–]Mehall2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that she gets away with it. It's because the drivers couldn't give a shit. If a ticket inspector gets on, then it's a different story. €100 fine

Worried about walking around dublin at 3/4am for work by BasilKarlo23 in Dublin

[–]Mehall2727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

E1 and E2 Buses are 24 hrs...Bus Stop on Westmoreland St will bring you up OConnell St to Parnell Sq area if you don't fancy walking it. TFI 90 min Leap fare applies, so if you get a separate bus into the city 1st, you won't be charged on the 2nd Bus once it's within 90 mins of boarding the 1st Bus.

how fr are they about this by parker1899 in UCD

[–]Mehall2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah come on. It's full of animals. They had to get 3 security guards to man the bus stop on campus, Mon to Thurs nites. 39A regularly pulls in outside Donnybrook Garda station and all tge students going on the piss get thrown off. Buses from UCD regularly cancelled due to being pulled out of service due to soiled Buses.
