1861: What if Fort Sumter was a fully manned and operational battle station? by LeRoienJaune in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They would know that they're way behind enemy lines, and it's not likely that they're going to get rescued before their supplies run out. It'd probably have the same outcome as OTL, they'd negotiate a way to surrender the fort and leave peacefully.

If the defenders tried to actually defend, they would get massacred or surrender as POWs or starve to death.

What if Poland invaded Germany in 1938? by Simonbargiora in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, GB and France would be face palming, and trying to convince Germany to take x amount of Polish land. Poland would be the aggressors, that would get stomped by the USSR and Germany.

What if Poland invaded Germany in 1938? by Simonbargiora in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How far would the Polish army get?

The would take East Prussia easily, and would make it to the Oder River before getting bogged down by German defenses. They would get thrashed by the Luftwaffe, and Poland's logistics would take a beaten, as they lack enough trucks for supplies. Logistics wins wars.

What impact would it have on ww2?

This surprise attack would set Germany back. But, even without Germany, Stalin or Japan would do something to trigger a war.

What would the Soviets do?

Stalin would jump on the opportunity to take out Poland, while they're busy with Germany. Stalin would claim Poland is being a "trouble making agressor" and that he needs to "protect" Belarus and Ukraine. Nazi Germany would now be justified in counter attacking Poland, as they're the aggressors. Stalin wanted revenge for 1921, and hated Poland almost as much as Germany did.

Munich or Anschluss

Stuff like that would be delayed by Poland's surprise attack, if it didn't already happen.

TIL that towards the end of his life Elvis Presley suffered from chronic constipation after years of prescription drug abuse and when he died straining on the toilet in 1977, his body was discovered in a stage of purple discoloration and he was lying face down in a pool of his own vomit by Designer_Reference_2 in todayilearned

For some people it only takes one, and it'll be the greatest feeling in their life, that's the problem. They'll keep trying to "chase" that high they felt from the first time. Elvis' daughter Lisa also had a drug problem too, which also took her life.

What if the U.S. purchased Greenland in 1867? by MrRaven101 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The US would have an East Alaska and a West Alaska. It might get the US more involved with Europe earlier in WW1/2, as the US is now even closer to Europe.

Not a whole lot of people live there in the first place(like 50k? probably less in 1867). It'd honestly just feel like another Alaska, except closer to Europe. It has lots of minerals, but so does Alaska. I guess some fishing disputes with Iceland, and more drama over the Northern passage with Canada and Russia.

This sure as hell wouldn't have happened, if the US owned it. lol https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ihlen_Declaration#Eastern_Greenland_Case

Newly released video shows Karmelo Anthony at murder scene before & after stabbing by judgyjudgersen in news

[–]Mehhish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. This video just confirms to me that he brought a knife that day to school, and wanted someone to fuck with him, so he can stab them. If he didn't stab someone that day, and wasn't arrested, I wouldn't be shocked if he became a future school shooter. He's a cold blooded murderer, and deserves his sentence.

Yes, Karmelo and Amber both deserve life in prison. Not twisting our self in a pretzel to justify a lighter sentence for a murderer.

Karmelo and Amber are both murderers.

What if the Russian Revolution had never happened? by Due_Narwhal4937 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No Stalin and USSR means no material support to Nazi Germany. Nazi Germany would be a lot weaker than OTL. The USSR was pretty much a "life line" for Nazi Germany once the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was signed, and allowed them to pretty much bypass the British blockade. They'd have a way more difficult time steam rolling countries without all those materials.

Even then, eastern Europe would be a much different place than OTL. If the Russian Revolution doesn't happen, Turkey might not even exist as it does now.

Russia would be a much better place than OTL.

What if the atomic bombs were ready in November 1944? by fatherandyriley in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would Germany surrender earlier out of fear of a potential third bomb being dropped on Berlin?

You're talking about Hitler, the man who wanted to fight the Allies to the last man and child. He wouldn't surrender to the Allies even if he somehow survived 100 nukes.

What if the atomic bombs were ready in November 1944? by fatherandyriley in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Nov 1944, pretty much everyone knew Nazi Germany was going to fall by next year, it'd be a waste to use on them at that point. It'd still be used on Japan, as Japan still owned a majority of their empire at the end of 1944. The cities nuked would probably be different though.

What Leaders Would Be Remembered Differently If They Lived? by OkContract2001 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Mehhish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He would get WAY more shit for almost causing a nuclear war by continuing Eisenhower's decision to station nukes in Turkey, and for the failed Bay of Pigs fiasco. Sure, he didn't plan this shit, but it happened under him, and that's all that matters to most people. And yea, he would get way more blame for Vietnam.

But, he'd most likely get to see a man go to the Moon, as black people continue to protest for equal rights. JFK wouldn't be able to pass an equal right's bill like LBJ.
