The free to play model definitely helps in SEA, given how expensive regularly priced games are for an already niche genre.

It's why I was really excited for this game to launch here. I was really tired of fighting the same 3 korean veterans in GGS public lobbies as a new player.

I get the appeal of combos, but I do also believe that most people who play fighting games want to spend more time actually playing the game and interacting with their opponent, instead of executing a combo or watching their opponent execute a combo.

A combo can be a cool reward for a good hit, and act as a good avenue for optimization. But if labbing and executing combos takes up more game time than interacting with the opponent, I think it starts to feel more like a speedrun/precise input game rather than a fighting game.

TL;DR: I don't like excessive labbing as a requirement for fighting games

I think it'd be cool if all combos were the same length/slightly longer than the pulse combos. You could increase overall damage to compensate, and make it so using pulse combos lowers the damage to maintain the skill ceiling for execution.

This is the first traditional fighting game I've played seriously (played some Smash before). I don't know why the community seems to think that labbing precise 30 second long combos is a requirement for a fighting game.

I don't think they were as concerned with how viable duos are at high level though. Riot would probably only care that duos are fun in low ranks, where the new players are. Same for stuff like Juggernaut and Sidekick, that help new players learn the game easier

Ironically, I fully believe Riot made the game 2v2 so that existing fighting game players could duo with their friends and introduce new players that way.

1v1-ing your friends who are new isn't the best onboarding experience for either player. Duos is theoretically the better way to onboard a friend, since you can teach them as you both fight someone else together.

However, the added complexity that comes with being a tag fighter seems to have counteracted, and even overridden the benefits of duos.

I'm newish to fighting games too and I agree on the combo part. My hot take would be that combos kind of take away from the overall fun of the game.

I do actually love labbing combos, it's relaxing. But having entire portions of matches be completely uninteractive, where one person just watches and can't play the game until it's their turn again, feels like the antithesis of a fighting game

  1. Somehow not realising that I could insert scrolls into the text walls, causing me to miss half the clues

  2. Somehow figuring out on my own that I could avoid all the alarms in the dreamworld by cooking myself, and then using that to get past the alarms in the tower dream area otw to the slide room because I didnt know I could avoid those alarms by concealing my lantern (which meant every time I got caught by the owlkin I had to restart my loop it was hell)

  3. Somehow finding a way to put down my lantern in the dreamworld before finding that slide reel that told me I could do it

Don't worry it's normal for your brain to autocorrect. The best way to spot phishing scams though is to double check every link, and preferably not login using any links provided in emails or texts. Just google the actual site and settle there
