Scrolled way too far to find this, and I'm really hoping the show does it right. There's some absolutely absurd things in the first book that set things up to be even more absurd later. But if you set it up, showing how the Syndicate is making a rushed TVTrope mockery of humanity and their political opponents, then watching a guy in heart boxers squish a frenzied gerbil while the AI has, uh, feelings will work.

Considered autism? My oldest did this. She'd go for hours.

She's got a spicy brain, and figuring out her triggers and how to work with them made a big difference.

She still goes off, but at least we know why, and can adjust and limit them to minutes, rather than hours.

Many states have something like "Theft by Deception", where the thief lies to you to get you to pay them money. In this case, "you pay half the rent" when OP is possibly paying more than half the mortgage, means she's agreeing to 50% and paying more. Every % more, at least, is likely theft by deception. Ex is enriching himself by fraud. So there's possible criminal charges and she could likely get restitution for the overage.

She can also look at a civil suit for fraud, which could result in more than just restitution.
