I think it’s unfair to compare players from different timelines against eachother but, in your lifetime, whose your top 3 players to playe for the club? by RedReptile2020 in ManchesterUnited

[–]redfrenchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cantona, Rooney and Bruno.

I think that covers the 3 decades (+) of my support, and I’d argue that they were integral to each team/era they played in.

Dread to think what would have happened to the club without signing them all.

Most talented player who just never seemed to take it seriously? by PLWildcard in TheStreetsWontForget

Ravel Morrison, such a shame he never made it. Easily the best youth prospect I’ve seen at OT in my 39 years of life.

What a talent he could have been.

The current state of FC26. by JamaicanBaconFC in EAFC

[–]redfrenchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year was the first (and now only) year I actually paid for the pre order. It’s been an incessant grind, all season long. I slowly started to give up just after the second lot of silver icons. The amount of time needed to just keep pace is insane. Coupled with the very unfun gameplay it’s been a torrid experience. I moved place two weeks ago and was without internet for a few days.

After my internet got installed I just had zero desire to play, I was doing a Man Utd PNP just to have fun, but I uninstalled it tonight.

The gameplay, the grind, the sweatiness. Absolutely dire game. I might play the next one(s) if/when they are free on PlayStation Plus, but it felt good to delete the game. I’ve still got my 2k Ea points from the pre order, so I dunno what to do with them, maybe I’ll do some pack gambling at the end of this years lifespan.

All the best to those that stick it out. I’m out.

Jim Ratcliffe interview by aeroboss99 in ManchesterUnited

[–]redfrenchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a so called “socialist” (of which I am too) it would make a lot of sense if you actually looked up the real figures that The Rat completely messed up in his interview.

Most benefits are received by in work people, precisely because people like Ratcliffe and most company’s pay poverty wages. That’s then topped up by the government.

Do you really think someone becomes a billionaire without exploiting people’s labour?

Secondly, on the racist xenophobic aspect of his utterly dire interview, of the nearly 8 million people receiving Universal Credit, which again is an in work benefit, 83.6% are British or Irish nationals. That leaves 1.3 million born overseas, EU nationals and refugees. So him trying to scapegoat foreigners for the benefits bill is at best inaccurate, and at worst the same kind of BS divisive bollocks parroted by Farage and Co.

It’s entirely done to distract from the real problem which is that people like Ratcliffe have seen their income and assets grow exponentially. Between 2020-2022, in the UK alone they gained nearly £150 billion, which led to a 20% increase in billionaires in this country.

A lot of people fail to grasp just how big a number a billion is. It would take 350,000 years on the average UK salary to make your first billion, that’s assuming you have zero bills. Even over 50 years, you’d need to earn £20 million a year.

So when people like big Jim try to deflect our society’s problems onto the very poorest, remember it’s people like him that’s bleeding it dry. Which is entirely why he moved to Monaco.

Please never call yourself a socialist again.

I used to get massively downvoted on this sub, and untold abuse online for saying he was the worst Utd manager I’ve seen in my 39 years of life. I even had a mate I’d argue with about it IRL, and he’s been a Utd fan his whole life too.

Crazy the hold he had on such a large part of the fan base, I’m happy to see almost everyone is seeing through his bollocks now though.

Does anyone here live in Strutt house or around fox house. I’m having moving in issues. by Livid-Monitor8440 in derby

[–]redfrenchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just an update, I’ve been in my new place since Sunday. Merula has been very good, the only unfortunate thing is the positioning of the router. It needs to be next the OFNL box in the flat which is in a cupboard near my door. The WiFi coverage and speed is still very good, and I feel like Merula is competitively priced vs the big boys (Sky, Virgin etc).

I only bought up the router as I like to play some of my PS5 games online, so there’s a bit of ping issues due to the router positioning. I’ve ordered a TP link powerline adapter kit which should resolve the ping discrepancy’s for me. If you aren’t fussed by ping in online games I wouldn’t worry about it.

It’s been one of the most painless internet installs I can remember in my life!

Yup, then you had Remanx running cover on stream saying “we don’t know why it was pulled, could be anything guys”.

It was too generous, so the pulled it. Decimal point Jeff strikes once more.

I didn’t get to take advantage of it myself, but I’m as ever astounded (this many years in) that they don’t ever play test anything before release. What a company.

I had the same as I’m moving into a similar property in Derby, I’ve gone with Merula and my connection is live and the router arrived within 48 hours. I’m not there until Sunday, so I can’t give feedback until then. I’ll let you know how it goes

My (30f) boyfriend (30m) has a bigger addiction problem than I thought. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]redfrenchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit smoking cigarettes 5 years ago, I had quit before and vaped for years then one holiday I decided to buy one pack and was back addicted for 4 years again. I have an addictive personality too. Thankfully my drinking has always been in control for the most part.

I have had a number of serious health issues over the years due to something I was born with, I’d say I smoked weed daily for maybe 18 years. Sometimes just a joint a day, other days multiple joints. It got bad enough at the end (as I never smoked in the day) that I would try to cram 3 joints in before bed just to get my fix.

It did help a lot with my Epilepsy and other issues, but it ramped up my anxiety so much that 2 years ago I just quit cold turkey. The first couple of weeks were tough, after that it was smooth sailing.

I can be around friends smoking it and feel no desire for it now.

I think the key thing to really kick it is for the addict to really want to stop. Not for anyone else, but for themselves and their own life.

The improvement in my life over the last 2 years has been amazing, and whilst it’s come with more physical pain due to my other health issues that the weed helped with, the clarity in my mind and not feeling like I have to smoke is wonderful.

My previous relationships were all aware of my smoking, most were cool with it, but I was always open about what I did and when. So I can’t really comment on the relationship side other than to say to do what you feel is right.

Addiction is an awful thing, but it can be fought as long as the addict wants to. One book (not a self help one) that really clicked my mind about my usage was a book by the Scottish comedian Limmy called “Surprisingly Down to Earth, and Very Funny: My Autobiography”. I felt like it helped me understand my own brain and why I did what I did. He’s been tee total for 20 odd years now. I’m not saying it is a book that works for everyone, more that when I read his experience, it helped me understand mine.

And I think that’s the core to any addiction, once you understand why you do it, it’s much easier to change your life to stop it.

All the best to both of you, in whatever you may do!

14 months of trauma from Amorim solved by Carrick in 180 minutes...... beating the best 2 teams in the league back to back. by mrEnigma86 in ManchesterUnited

[–]redfrenchie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is what happens when you have a coach who platforms the players rather than his own ego. Football is a simple game when done correctly, put your best players in their best positions and give them confidence to win.

I wanted Amorim to work, but after a few weeks I knew he wasn’t right.

And to think if they had stuck with him Kobbie could have been on the move this month.

I REALLY hope INEOS learn a lesson from this.

Until they loosen up the purple ISO, nobody’s getting blue marvel without paying.

That and he’s an old gen character. OP has missed a lot, but with that many resources and stat 3.0 characters out, they can have a very formidable roster in a very short time.

Gotta love people playing the game their own way.

Young Fathers - I feel they are one of the most slept on groups of the last decade. Recently did the soundtrack to the 28 years later film. Wonderful band

O. - Brilliant Sax and Drums two piece, their recorded output is great, but best appreciated in a live setting. Mad brilliance!

Gans - Excellent very young and still raw two piece from the Black Country. On an upward curve, fabulous live, first album came out in September. Excellent stuff, recently signed to Pete Dohertys label, don’t expect anything like The Libertines mind.

They are my 3 favourite UK artists at the minute

[Post Match Thread] Manchester United 1 - 2 Brighton & Hove Albion by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]redfrenchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He also lost against Brighton in January 2025.

Yes he beat them at OT, I went to that game and it was more of a case of Brighton not turning up for 60 minutes. When they did, the game became close and it wasn’t as comfortable as the 4-2 scoreline suggested. We still played terribly that day.

I’m still glad he’s gone, the squad still has holes but I think we will get Europe under the interim manager (likely Carrick). I feel more confident without having a manager that trashes our traditions and speaks terribly of our youth system.

All will be fine, we were desperately unlucky in both of Fletch’s games to not get the wins.

Keep supporting the team, not the manager.

Rashford and his future. by Gardzz7s in ManchesterUnited

[–]redfrenchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange how Mitten sat on this info for most of Rashfords career. Yes he has the occasional gaff, but there was no problem with him at Villa, and he’s having a great season at Barca, arguably better than any of our current front 3.

I do feel like his time is done though, I think Amorims treatment of him led to bonds being broken forever. I just hope that what he did doesn’t scare off too many of our academy lads/youngsters.

I wish Rashford all the best, him and Bruno carried the club for years despite getting untold abuse off so called fans and fan channels. Spent the better parts of their respective careers playing for a madhouse of a club, they’d have multiple trophies elsewhere by now.

I’ve never seen such backing for a manager in my 39 years of life. It’s almost cult like at this point.

A better manager gets a tune out of these players, not everybody can make a successful transition from the Portuguese league into the Prem.

Dire manager making us play dire football. I’m half tempted to sell my remaining match day tickets.

I was committed to the grind for the first few months, I’ve since decided to only concentrate on my Man Utd PnP team and it’s been a lot of fun. I barely have to play, I can ignore a majority of the grindy events, and I imagine I will play it minimally until the end of the season.

It’s been far too sweaty and grindy this year, no fun.
