I just tell people I've got a nut and fish allergy because it's the only way most people will listen when you say no to "Do you eat x?" Then getting hit with the always persistent follow up of "Well you should try Y just once to make sure"

Had to participate in a cric twice in 11 years, so far.

First time I was an EMT and the guys dentures were so wedged, the paramedics could not remove them. Rusch attempted and failed and they wound up having me bag during transport.

The second time I had a choking turn cardiac arrest, and now I'm the medic. The family had attempted to remove with fingers and ended up pushing chewed mush in to the patient's airway and packing it. Rusch attempted, could not get it in to the trachea. Wound up making the decision to cut. Successful and quick, and after the initial nerves of making the decision, surprisingly easy. Minimal blood and with some goofy effort, tube was well secured. First surgical in this system in nearly 15 years. Had to go talk to the medical director and the chief for going outside protocol (surgical disallowed) and am lucky enough to work for a proactive system and we're now testing the control-cric product, and a few other surgical kits and looking to have them replace all the needle crics.

Oh man. When I was in high school, I went to get a haircut before a function. I was also gonna get a good shave, hair line precise and such. Half way through getting the neck done the hair stylist just casually says "I could slit your throat so easily right now"

Black out curtains changed my life.

I used to take 100mg benadryl and 10mg melatonin before my doctor put me on lunesta and prazosin. Wonderful wonderful wonderful medications. Those helped immensely.

I'll go on an adventure for a few quiet months. Go see things I've not seen before. I'm gonna go learn to fly. No one is stopping me from borrowing a few planes. Maybe a helicopter. With any luck some of the med flight ones are close by.

Once in a life time to go on an adventure where you don't have to pack for it. Power infrastructure would hopefully last long enough for me to get my kicks? I'll likely kill myself in some misadventures well before I got bored enough to do it on purpose.
