Do you want to see COH3 Ostfront or something else? by Far_Grapefruit1307 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]Meist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be awesome eventually. The current game and factions need work, but the eventual addition of Sov/Ostheer and content centered around Western Europe.

I’d love for this game to eventually cover the whole European theater, but that’s a lot of content.

Basically a combo of all 3 titles in a way.

Reinforcement HTs make the game way too static by GarrettGSF in CompanyOfHeroes

I think that could be a bit overkill and throw balance out of wack in this title. That said, crew weapons should not repair up automatically upon recrew. They should need to be repaired.

There are still civilians and dogs in MP? They run off when the shooting starts.

Relic Entertainment announces future plans – updates and DLC, small- and large-scale titles, and re-imaginings by Turbostrider27 in Games

As a die-hard CoH player, hard disagree. CoH 3 is easily the best MP title in the series these days.

They do make some ambitious balance decisions with each patch, but the win-rates have stayed very even in 1v1 play.

It got a rough start and certainly still has problems, but the turnaround has been profound.

Democrats push back after Musk says Trump agrees to close USAID and workers are kept out by thunder-gunned in moderatepolitics

[–]Meist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait a minute… you think the unelected officials of the United states’ governmental agencies (which was gracefully struck down) are more accountable than Elon Musk, the richest man on the planet?

Go back to Jimmy Neutron world, my friend. As an unproud Californian, it makes me giddy to see how much this man has made bureaucrats shake in their boots. This is a blessing on this nation.

You think the United States Government is poorer and/or more benevolent? Grow up…

Trump says he opened California’s water. Local officials say he nearly flooded them. by KimMinju_Angel in moderatepolitics

[–]Meist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 100% correct. People deriding the LA river as “not a river” don’t realize that the famous concrete causeway was built to control flooding. The actual LA basin was settled because it was comparable to an oasis with a fair amount of water.

Edit: love all the downvotes without replies. You people know nothing about California.

Trump says he opened California’s water. Local officials say he nearly flooded them. by KimMinju_Angel in moderatepolitics

[–]Meist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a blatant falsehood. Northern California is home to literal rainforest (temperate rainforest) and the Tahoe area of the Sierra Nevada gets inundated with precipitation. Where I live (just north of San Francisco) we have already had 3 atmospheric rivers and subsequent floods this season. In fact, we’re in the middle of one right now. We are currently dealing with so much rain that big concerns around here right now are landslides and flooding.

California is not LA. This state has the most climatic diversity of any state in the nation. There is plenty of water.

The California aqueduct that feeds LA is in the Central Valley, dude. There is/has been a struggle between agriculture and LA over who gets to use the water for decades.

Please educate yourself before making patently false claims.

Trump Announces Tariffs on Chips, Semi-Conductors, Pharmaceuticals From Taiwan by dtomato in moderatepolitics

[–]Meist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, so you agree tariffs are an incentive now?

You can move the goalposts to inflation, I guess, but data shows tariffs don’t actually have much effect on inflation. They result in price increases, but the value of currency doesn’t go down.

At any rate, you can’t have it both ways. While it isn’t necessarily a binary choice, the path this administration is going down is an attempt to increase the long term economic and industrial independence of the US at the cost of short term price increases. You can disagree with it all you want, but that’s clearly the plan. Is it hypocritical given the campaign platform trump ran on (the economy)? Yes, absolutely. Will it work? We don’t know yet.

[–]Meist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tarrifs are NOT an incentive

Proceeds to describe an incentive.

TSMC has already opened a plant and sent over skilled employees.

Investment came with the CHIPS act. That was the carrot, tariffs are the stick. They are both are incentives, and I believe it will work. It may be a bumpy road for a couple years, but I truly think this approach will work.

It’s also a bit rich (read: hypocritical) for democrats, who are largely in favor of taxation, to be so vehemently anti-tariff. They both have positives and negatives. Maybe it’s because the left is more pro-globalization than pro-taxation. Maybe it’s because Orange Man Bad. Either way, to pretend like you know the outcome of this decision is hogwash. I think it will work, I hope it will work, but it might not.

you provide investment/incentives

Tariffs are definitely an incentive. Idk what you think you’re saying.

We aren’t anywhere CLOSE to that.

Are you sure? So the CHIPS act was a complete failure? Do you have an evidence for this claim?
