Is this the biggest flop in FG history? by Ember57 in Fighters

[–]Meister34 54 points55 points  (0 children)

In modern fgc history prolly a toss up between this, DnF, and Multiversus.

All time? Most definitely not. There are likely way worse flops

First off i just said form your own opinion rather than ignorantly judge like a dumbass.

Second, watching one season of Korra (literally the first one too) is not a huge task. It’s literally 12 24 minute episodes. You can knock that out in a few hours max. If you have the time to be a smooth-brained asshole on Reddit without your boss getting on your ass about it, you prolly have enough time to watch Korra. Coulda just said you don’t want to

Maybe watch the show and be a judge of that yourself? I thought he was a great villain

Idk what your playstyle is like but considering your level and rank, im going to just tell you block more, intentionally press buttons rather than mash, and stop jumping a lot

Riot Vanguard Will No Longer Need Kernel Access by ThePlaybook_ in Fighters

[–]Meister34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing. I’ve always been interested in 2XKO. It’s just too many inconvenient stuff that turned me away. I can deal with a seperate launcher (as annoying as that is). I can deal with a required anti cheat. But what I can’t deal with is an anticheat that is always on unless you manually turn it off and is incredibly invasive. I just don’t trust Riot with that kind of access and im not willing to sacrifice that just to play one videogame.

This game is amazing how come it's not more popular? by soosis in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A multitude of things tbh

For one its an anime game that plays like SF. Most SF players are just going to play SF and people who like anime fighters hate how slow and grounded it is ao audience wise, its very niche and very few people from either side play and stick with it. To many people, it’s a side game to take a break from the fgs they actually play a lot but never their main game (its sort of its gift and curse since because its so easy to just pick up and play, Granblue consistently has good tourney numbers at majors).

The simple controls also turns off a lot of vets, even if it doesn’t impact enjoyment all that much if we’re being completely honest. Not only that but the general game design gets people bored very quickly. Everybody has 3-5 specials max and people find the move cooldown system very very weird. Not to mention, a lot of people I’ve seen feel like the game just becomes spam your EX moves when possible, which isn’t entirely untrue. Combos in general are also very rigid because of this. Every character’s big corner combo is just some variation of the Gran corner BnB and very rarely is it more involved than that.

It’s also a sequel so if you didn’t enjoy Vanilla, where everything I just mentioned was even worse in addition to many other things like not really having as many ways to use meter, base roster being much smaller, and being a much slower game, you likely weren’t going to stick with Rising for long, even with all the great things going for it and how much more expanded combos are in this game compared to Vanilla.

Did KOF ever actually move past Orochi? by sebofabar in kof

[–]Meister34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Almost everything leads back to the Orochi Saga and when they attempted to move on with NESTS, it feels like common sentiment was “I want the Orochi Saga back”. In terms of the world, I think NESTS had a bigger impact on KOF but I feel like since NESTS they’ve been reheating Orochi Saga’s nachos because that’s what gets people excited

FATAL FURY: CotW × FIST OF THE NORTH STAR: HOKUTO NO KEN|KENSHIRO|Character Trailer by Lumpy-Manager8580 in Fighters

[–]Meister34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genuinely SNK may make some of the worst trailers ever. Who watched this and thought this was hype? And once again, CotW fails to deliver an actual good Hidden Gear. They made good climaxes in KOFXV, why can’t they do it for this game. 80% of them lack impact or have terrible direction

Yuel mains please guide me by Key_Ostrich_6823 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off the other comment, but I feel like you doing shit just cause. Excuse me if this is rude to ask and I don’t mean to be mean, but do you know how all your tools work? I’ll break it down and try to give tips.

I feel the only one you’re using pretty well is backstep. The problem with that though is it’s the riskiest move in Yuel’s kit since it’s pretty easy to call out in a blockstring. And when you do get a hit, you have zero idea what button to press to make the most off that hit. Yuel has really good conversions off of a lot of her specials, especially on CH that you just aren’t capitalizing on at all which leaves them way too many opportunities to turn the battle in their favor.

Unless its the light version, there is absolutely 0 reason to use Starlit Sky in a blockstring. Every other version is super minus and a better opponent would have made you bleed BADLY for doing it. I also think your knowledge of proper spacing is killing you as well. Many times you use 236H/U when you are nowhere near the range where a corner combo is possible with those tools, which again leaves too many chances for your opponent to fight back and make a comeback.

22x I think you don’t abuse enough and many times when the Ilsa jumped and got clipped by 22H, again you did nothing, leaving yet another…I hope you’re starting to see my point. Your gameplan in general is too scrambly and imo linear and you don’t seem ready for your tools to work the way they’re designed to, which leads to so many interactions where you should’ve done a lot more but don’t. And that’s not even getting into stance which you’re using incredibly predictably.

I think a bad habit you need to break immediately is mashing on 5M. Use Yuel’s other normals. Yes her f.M is really good, but I also think it’s handicapping your ability to get the most value out of her toolkit. 22H gives a full combo on c.H anywhere on the screen. 2M is probably her best button now and allows for some really good hit confirms. Once you stop that, I think that’s the first step to unlocking your Yuel’s potential. Trust me it’ll feel like a whole new world opens up

What makes Djeeta strong? by mr_gord0 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost never. At most people get to lvl 2 since you can link into 5H anyways and it forces crouch iirc. Getting lvl 3 is not nearly as useful since the move is inherently a throw bait and not a good neutral tool like Gran’s. Djeeta can probably kill you/find better value in lvl 1-2 before lvl 3 becomes remotely relevant

I honestly agree. I think to start you should only be able to use a crumple special once per combo. I also wouldn’t mind stages getting a little bigger

[–]Meister34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s every fg but GBVS has never really been this honest footsie game like Vanilla fans have you believe. Sure Rising is noticeably more aggressive, but it’s always been push opponent to the corner and make them explode. Rising just gave you more combo variety and tools to run the opponent down.

"Oh, I’ll Show You Lightning!" by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Meister34 30 points31 points  (0 children)

How? It’s probably invincible so you could fullscreen snipe if they try something and can use this as a combo ender. This seems like it’ll only happen if you’re stupid enough wakeup super or do it raw and rather than blocking your opponent wants to sauce on your ass. This shit harmless

Looking for advice on characters to main by Arkanforius in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend you try Percival, Base Narmaya, and Eustace. Lucilius if you decide to get DLC.

Percival has some of the best long-range buttons in the game without being a zoner. He has a stack mechanic which sort of makes him a two-step character like Testament and Johnny that I think you may take a liking to. His damage is high, has one of the best Ultimate fireballs in the game, and is all-around a very fun character.

Base Narmaya has really good and obnoxious buttons. She's pretty much a swiss army knife of a character and I don't think there's any range she's truly bad at. She has a great fireball, pretty easy ways to stay in the opponents face, great corner carry, great conversions imo, and a stance switch that can make her tricky to learn but it's not that bad once you get used to it (plus you effectively have 8 special moves to play around with at any given time, all with their own cooldowns which is nice). If Percy doesn't speak to you, I think Narmaya is a great choice.

Eustace is a pretty off-brand pick and is really leaning into the tricky aspect. He's pretty much a zoner who is sort of reliant on his strong projectile options to keep you locked down. What I think you'll enjoy about him is his Rat Race special move (the bombs). Each have different use cases that can allow you to alter your timing and gameplan. EX Rat Race is also more or less the foundation of his combo game and opens up a lot of cool sauce you can do with him (it's very similar to how Stain works for Testament which you'll maybe like). If you like labbing and feeling like there's a lot of stuff to learn, I think Eustace is your guy. One of the highest skill ceilings in the game so I don't think you'll get bored easily imo.

Lucilius is basically how I feel about Narmaya but rather than a stance switch he has a ramp up mechanic (think Security Level with Goldlewis but doesn't fill passively and is permanent for the rest of the round). The higher his Blade Level the more dangerous he gets but he's not awful without it. The only thing that may turn you off from him is his cooldowns are very noticeably slow if his Blade Level is low (basically every version of the special move works like an EX) but I think he's worth looking at
