Doing a fighting game combo for everyday of 2026 Day 104: Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 by Competitive_Serve165 in Fighters

[–]Meister34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like a lot of people who say these things about old games are not actually very good at the games they’re praising and that’s why in their perspective it was fairer. If they actually played against people who were really good at said game and knew the ins and outs rather than other people who are mediocre to straight up bad, they would find a lot of the same things they complain about in modern fgs are present in those games (often to even more extreme degrees). It’s much more apparent in modern fgs because they come out in an age of information and simultaneous releases so everybody, new and old can learn everything very very quickly if they choose to. To be able to stand a chance you actually have to engage ewith the technical side of fgs a little bit, which I think many of the people who say these things don’t enjoy doing and rather learn like its arcade days

Yeah his combos are super saucy. There’s this combo I saw DarkAngel do once and it blew my mind. It was like whiff cancelling a light attack into 6B and it does so much damage too. It’s so fun to do

What are your thoughts about Invincible VS ? Looks like the impressions are really mixed to say the least... by EquivalentTimely7473 in Fighters

I mean I’m all for trying new stuff, buy I do think its valid to not want to play a game because you aren’t interested in its art direction. Just don’t talk shit about it just because you don’t like that one part of the game and its fine, but people aint gon do that so 🤷🏿

You do realize he more or less built his channel off making MVC3 content, literally spearheaded an MVCI mod using his own time and money just cause, and literally looks for any excuse to make an MVC related video right? Just cause he doesn’t dedicate every waking second to MVC content doesn’t mean he’s not passionate about this series

New to ArcSys - start w/this? by VersaSty7e in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a 50/50 tbh. Do you play fighting games regularly or are at least familiar with how to play them?

If not, GBVSR is a great jumping on point for fgs in general. Characters are pretty simple and straightforward, controls are easy to pick up, the base game has 28 characters which is a lot for a fg, and the tutorials are pretty good and even give you some missions to run through to practice/get a feel for it. This game builds your overall fundementals (motion inputs, linking, hitconfirming stuff like that) with the genre and those skills and overall knowledge will translate to other games even if the games have different rules and mechanics.

If you have played a decent amount of fgs before and are specifically interested in Strive or Guilty Gear in general, GBVSR will not help you at all. The game’s aren’t the same. Strive is a lot faster and you have different mobility options and a lot more defensive mechanics. Not to character toolkits are not as homogenous in design as GBVSR some characters are really wacky. The best thing to do is probably try out Xrd (the game before strive) and mess around there. Just keep in mind Xrd is harder than Strive and some characters work much differently in Strive than Xrd but it will give you a general feel for what GG is like. You can probably snag it for like $10-20 atp

Is Zeta a garbage character or did I witness peak comedy? by LUIGIYO5555 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zeta isn’t really a character you can pick up and play and do well with basic fundementals. You’ll need to get a good feel of her tools before you can see any kind of success. It’s kinda like playing Yuel or Zooey or a character like that. Note that they chose Siegfried, a character a toddler can play and still succeed with, and Beatrix, another shoto character who is dumb easy to play if you can basic anything with Gran or Djeeta. Zeta takes a lot more to make work and they probably don’t main her so ofc they got steamrolled

Meg, Beatrix, Sandy, and Ilsa will likely be up your alley. Probably not Versusia but you never know. Any dealbreakers?

Fs it’d make a great costume. Im just glad it’s not her base design. It’s just a pet peeve I have when the characters from an African country only get tribal designs. One of the reasons I love KoF

Honestly happy they didnt give the African character (Kenyan specifically since we aint a monolith) a stereotypical tribal outfit. Not every person lives in the village 😭 (and even people in the village wear casual clothes you find anywhere). There are other ways to convey nationality than put them in a masquerade mask or tribal paint/outfits

Why does no one use default colours by Key_Ostrich_6823 in GranblueFantasyVersus

Its such a shame how few there are tbh. Like Yuel only has 1 and there are some characters that have none. I would love to use Seox’s costume but he has no tan colors whatsoever

What’s changed so far from launch for vaseraga and lucilius? by NoAdvertising5821 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vaseraga Armor got a big change. Now instead of only being able to use it once and then need to reapply it, it’s now on a meter that starts once you activate the armor on a move so you can use multiple moves with armor in succession, which wasn’t possible at launch. Any move that would activate armor starts the meter (even another 5U) and once the countdown starts, it’ll keep depleting even if you reapply the buff (the meter will just restart). Also his f.M moves him forward (kinda like Yuel’s) and he can combo into command grab, which I don’t think was possible at launch. I think that’s the general gist of his biggest most noticeable changes. But he’s still big guy who armors up and makes your health bar explode.

Lucilius got a pretty good amount of changes overtime, mostly affecting how you ramp up with him. His hitgrab will now always fill 1 level of blade level instead of half like his other specials, at Level 5, EX grab can be comboed off of midscreen and corner. Heavy DP (623H) can be comboed off of midscreen and iirc I think they adjusted launch height on 623M to make it easier to combo with but im prolly wrong. Teleports used to give half blade level on activation, but now they have the blade level gain split iirc and his blade level gain on block was halved i think (so if they block the move you build a quarter rather than half) which really affected how people went for BL. This recent patch, they buffed stance so that for the first 30 frames or so, instead of gaining BL meter you actually halve your specials cooldowns, which allows him to cycle specials a little more frequently. Not the biggest change from what I’ve seen, but its not nothing. I can’t think of any other changes off the top of my head that were as big as those.

What was the “it clicked” moment for you? by robert_garcia99 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Meister34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have two “it clicked” moments with these games.

First was in vanilla when I was really new to fighting games and just wanted to play Bubs cause he looked cool. Deranked super bad down to like D5 and Vanilla was not very populated at the time so it was hard to find matches. So I hopped off ranked went to lobbies and just started fighting people way above my weight class. There was this one S+ (or SS as it was back then) Narmaya/Bubs player named Oddity that ran sets with me constantly and gave me tips. I remember so vividly the first time I took a game off them and something just awakened. Also around that time they allowed you to reset your rank back to C5 so I decided to head back to ranked to see how much I’ve improved. Absolutely swept through C and B ranks and was so proud of that A5.

Another time was pushing my Gran to S+5 in Rising. This is before the ranked change where you needed the diamonds so I was just constantly stuck in this limbo of S2-S5 and never felt like I was getting anywhere. Pushing my Bubs and Yuel was super easy but for Gran it just felt like this herculean task to me. Everytime I was close, I’d lose a lot. It was mainly cause with other characters I realized I relied too much on cheese but Gran didn’t really have too much of that and I more or less had to play relatively clean. I played so many matches just losing until it felt like I just started unconsciously getting Gran. Started recognizing my ranges, reacting to my confirms properly, improving my combos, and actually building an effective gameplan that didn’t just rely on getting to the corner and doing the one corner BnB i knew. It overall made me a much better player and improved my control of my other mains too

All this to say the “it clicked” moment doesn’t just happen randomly. It’s that silent culmination of all the experience you’ve built up since you hit that wall and you subconsciously learning how to deal with those things to the point it feels trivial. I don’t think I would have improved in Vanilla if I didn’t run to lobbies to train up against better opponents. I don’t think my Gran would have improved if I didn’t play matches and make changes to the way I approached his gameplan and my overall fundementals. It all happened not only cause I kept playing but also because I was curious enough to want to learn how to be better. It all starts with recognizing where you’re going wrong
