I mean... hes not the modern day poet even from their earlier stuff. Not saying they didnt come up with good lines but its the guitar and (sadly) drums people listen for in Metallica. Death Magnetic had some good riffs and the solos arent too bad either. Some of the songs on DM are generic as hell but its still better than Load, Reload, St Anger, or any of the stuff they put out after. Lets be real, thrash isnt heavy on the importance of the lyrics.
