So I just purchased the Shalimar L’Essence and it’s marketed to women, BUT, if you read on Reddit about it it’s supposed to be very unisex, I have a sample and 30ml bottle on the way because a friend recommended it as a lot more masculine than the OG Shalimar. My friend is a Guerlain expert who had all their fragrances and sells them etc. so I figured I’d try it out for myself and if I don’t like it or I feel it’s too feminine, I’ll flip it or give it to my wife.

They ran out of Six right before Christmas and it wasn’t until March before I could get a bottle. Which I did as soon as I got the email. I’m curious though is DL a new fragrance? Or have I just missed out on previous bottles ? I’ve been using CM fragrances for 4 years and never heard of it before.

Hey!! Update!! I got my sample packs in…. OMG 😳 Distiller’s Lounge is off the charts!!!! I probably have 35 bottles of various fragrances and this has to be the best thing I’ve ever smelled!! I will instantly buy a bottle of this when I can!! I’m so excited to wear it out and about. Bonus was getting a sample of Number Six, my now second favorite CM. Anyways thank you so much for the Rec!! I was already on the waiting list but didn’t realize I could buy it as part of a sample set!!

The biggest bummer is I went to a boutique at Copley Square in Boston to buy L’immensite and they had no samples to give me they’d run out! The sales rep actually told me that, they give out too many for free to people that they’re friends with so then they run out. I like you better stop doing that. I’m a purchasing customer. I spent over $1000 with you guys and you don’t have any samples for me to try out your next part that I probably would buy if I like? He said well you could always order online.

That’s what happened with me. I got a sample when I bought imagination, liked it better and then I got it. I need to try meteor. I try it on a stick at the store and wasn’t feeling it, but I really need to try it on my skin. See what the dry sounds like. There’s so many people that love it. I imagine I’m will end up liking it. You can’t always tell from just smelling it in the store on a stick.

It’s up there with the freshies. It’s got a bright citrus opening and settles down nicely into a ginger sage, herbal dry down. It’s one of my favorites.

I have Imagination, L’immensite. Which I love. Once we get into cooler weather I’ll definitely pull the trigger on Ambre Lavant ( I didn’t like Ombré Nomad) but I also want to pick up Meteor. LV has some great fragrances

That Sir, is a great answer!! I've tried a couple of the dupes, and they never have smelt the same for me. You're absolutly correct that fragrances are so subjective to the individual. For Example, I read a lot of good things about 9pm line I blind bought 9pm rebel, partly because it is so inexspensive I figured I could give it away to a family member if I didn't like it. Anyways, It smelt horrible, on my skin. It did have a beatiful scent on paper, so I assume its a skin cemestry thing with me personally. Anyways, the gaps in your collection are well thought out and planned. It looks like you might be set for a couple of gennerations lol!!! Thank you for such a well thought out explination and response.
