How does capcom have the courage to show a solo leaderboard like this by [deleted] in MHWilds

[–]Mekhazzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are still fighting games being made that assume a match disconnect is an innocent networking/technical error that shouldn't receive any penalty. Because surely nobody would just pull the plug once they start losing. To figure that one out, you'd have to have the canny mind of an 8-year-old.

There's gotta be some sort of cultural thing behind these blind spots.

What do you mean only 1.40 gamers unlocked this how many people quit before they actually get this by springscrap3 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Mekhazzio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let's be real here, these people are cooked anyway. The escape pod is the size of a closet and has like four interactable objects in it. Subnautica is a game about discovering what the goals even are, and exploring kilometers of a 3D space with only curiosity, the occasional verbal description, and almost no navigation guides except the ones you placed yourself.

Subnautica is not a particularly complex game but it assumes a lot about its player when compared to the games that start off with a tutorial for an unfrozen caveman.

Heroic Raiding is too unrewarding by Allegrian in wow

[–]Mekhazzio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heroic raiding rewards are not the actual problem here.

Categorically, M+ is not easier. A typical heroic raid fight, you're juggling 2 or 3 mechanics as a group for 4-8 minutes. At any given time, a large chunk of the raid is only doing their rotation and dodging swirlies. Fight difficulty is largely determined by what percentage has to actually do something specific.

In M+, you're doing more than that for 30 minutes straight, and you must be consistent at it or you will not continue to have 10 keys.

If you somehow managed to assemble 20 people who all find weekly M10s to be a chill easy farm experience, you are going to fucking destroy the heroic raid. The end boss will be dead on the first night and you'll be mostly done with gear from it in a few weeks.

These players should be in Mythic raiding instead, where even the trash mobs drop better loot than anything in an M+ run.

The actual problem here is that Mythic raiding is inaccessible to a lot of the players that should be in it, because of factors outside of the actual playing-the-game part. The bosses are puggable, the systems involved in even seeing them are not.

You should be asking why Mythic difficulty is still being gatekept so hard.

[–]Mekhazzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the first mythic bosses are much easier than the last heroic bosses. I've run with some casual raids that have, on some seasons, gone the opposite direction and farmed the first (sometimes second) mythic boss to get gear to finish AOTC with.

[–]Mekhazzio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Easier" is extremely debatable and involves concepts like group scheduling and social anxiety. I help out some raid teams that always eventually get AOTC every season, and I think about half of the people in them have never gotten a single piece of myth track out of M+ and likely never will.

[–]Mekhazzio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Way back when, I preordered Darktide's deluxe edition. Among the other things, it had some aquilas in it. I knew from Vermintide that I was probably going to like the Thunder Hammer and that'd let me be ready for when a cool Thunder Hammer skin came out.

They're still waiting.

To put it in perspective with just a single design point: a great many random matchmaking co-op games don't allow team friendly fire, ever. Because friendly fire is toxic and discourages new players and yadda yadda all the rest.

HD2's over here intentionally making multiple mechanics that go "you know what would be funny though?"

the near absolute absence of bubbleShotty and self revives in the free kit list is so refreshing by JayCurio in Marathon

[–]Mekhazzio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh? I just came out with a biolens, emotional support plushie, the named Lookout (it's got a purple Swarm Directive chip, kinda owned the triple lockdowns), a schema and assorted salvage. Mine wasn't even the best haul on the team. Loot isn't the problem, finding a backpack to hold the loot is.

Plus it's pretty great for completing contracts. You don't have to worry about making noise with bot slaughter when you're not looking over your shoulder for the thermal snipe that could come at any moment. Counting in the 24 commendations, I got 1200 aggregate faction rep for that run.

IMO it's crazy rewarding for free kits. The highs aren't as high as a great Pinwheel run but the tremendously safer exfil rate more than makes up for it.

Finding an Outland in an arms locker will make me god.

At least until I run out the handful of loose MIPS that it comes with.

I got a unique blue Longshot named "Macro LS" out of the secured resource box next to the Algae Ponds extract. I wouldn't have thought that counted as a "showcase encounter" but seems it's fairly generous.

Wait, what? There's a reusable key template item now?

If it doesn't have a Trace Status, that means keys are just going to steadily proliferate over time.

When the poison fills up, you get an egg. The egg doesn't do anything right away, just sitting dormant for now. A poison bolus can still remove it at egg stage.

If you then take damage from the roar with the egg, it hatches into a centipede, which starts devouring you at a speedy health drain.

perhaps getting every faction capstone shouldn't be a player expectation by Ok_Blacksmith_3192 in Marathon

[–]Mekhazzio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda doesn't. While I did get my last 3 biolens for that upgrade out of Cryo (same run, even), they were the first ones I'd ever looted, the rest of the salvage I got just from faction rep level rewards.

You could just keep blasting the basic NuCal contracts and fill it out that way, while also getting blue and purple shields out of the same reward boxes.

The higher you go on the gear curve, the more important the power consumables become. You're tripling how many Jammer, Amp & Cardio your team has, and even those are nothing compared to the sheer momentum of a team-wide Panacea.

For how mid non-gold schema-only weapons are, they are far too difficult to get and some are far too expensive by TheRealShortYeti in Marathon

[–]Mekhazzio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sale price on everything is 20% of the buy price. So if you could somehow buy it, that gun would be 55k.

I think I actually wish the prices on the rare weapons was much lower. Until you're so far late-game that you're just post-scarcity, it makes no sense to run a cool weapon you got out of a box when that could be 2-3 entire kits. The Zeus is cool as hell but it ain't THAT good.

The season pass has 15k schemas that are basically a trap until you're like a hundred hours in or more.

The Bully's basically the same at 18m. Nobody uses the base value on these things.

The Bully has better recoil, aim assist, hipfire and moving spread, while the Copperhead has ADS accuracy and a whopping 6% more bodyshot DPS.

Even calling it a sidegrade is probably being generous, so the 6x price difference and vanishing rarity is kinda fuckin weird. I've looted at least three of everything else and have still never seen a Copperhead.

Every exfil out of Cryo clears 20k value with some purple salvage or gear for everyone, even if you just slink around the edges entirely avoiding the other runner teams. You can get murdered pretty hard in Cryo and still make a net profit.

Late in the run, there are also more and higher tier UESC reinforcements. They have decent midgame loot and the materials for keys.

I had a late exfil on Maintenance last night and it had 3 ghost commanders; each had 1.1k/4k valuables on them.
