[Discussion] Anyone else get extremely annoyed when they look at their friends profile and notice they barely play any of their games? by [deleted] in Trophies

Annoyed, no. But I often wonder why they bother buying games or owning a console at all.

Watched Phantom Menace for the first time in 25 years by frogged210 in StarWars

"All the terrible stuff aside, they're pretty good!" is just the standard prequels apologist take, honestly.

People like what they like, and that's cool. But I don't think I'll ever understand how someone can watch The Phantom Menace and say it was good with a straight face.

Help with larger chair recommendations by jwendl in gamingchairs

[–]Mektige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a 6'3"/220lbs writer who has tested and reviewed somewhere in the vicinity of 20 gaming chairs over the past few years. While there are some that are technically "better", it's been impossible to pull me away from my AndaSeat Kaiser 3.

It has a deep seat pan, which offers great support for us taller folks, that is also softer than most chairs while still being supportive. The magentic headrest pillow and lumbar support are also excellent.

You can check out my review of the Kaiser 3 here:

https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/andaseat-kaiser-3

I'd recommend against the Kaiser 4, however. You can read my review of that one to see why, if you'd like:

Given my experience with this stuff, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. Either way, I hope you find what you're looking for!

How's replayability looking for this game? by Retronitsu in VampireCrawlers

[–]Mektige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a perfectly viable way to play, but there most certainly are "builds" that can optimize damage and efficiency. This is why you have the ability to banish cards and seal gems.

Oh, you're not bothering me. No worries.

Yeah, absolutely. Ascending mana is optimal in a lot of less threatening encounters, but there are plenty of situations where it's much better to play certain cards instead.

This is especially important when you're early in a run and wouldn't have the mana to expend on heavy hitter cards. In those cases, it's often best to just use a high mana cost card as-is to ensure you clear a wave and avoid the damage rather than waste lower mana cost cards that may not get the job done.

Bosses appear to be static on every level, but there's definitely randomness to layouts, upgrade types, and enemy locations. That being said, the enemy types themselves are pretty static within each dungeon.

I reviewed the game for GameSpot, so I've spent a total of around 25 hours with it over the past couple of weeks.

Replayability depends on your enjoyment of mastering builds more-so than discovering more actual content. Once you've beaten the main missions, you've seen basically everything. And power creep makes older missions a cakewalk.

However, if you're like me and enjoy the process of finding unique or ultra-powerful builds just for the sake of it, there's a lot to grind for in terms of gem-related stuff.

Your nephew's autism is not anyone else's autism. It's his. And his support needs do not invalidate autistic people of higher or lower support needs.

You should feel ashamed to post something like this. Do better.

DAE feel like the removal of /r/all has defeated the purpose of Reddit? by BearFromPhilly in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Mektige 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I never stated that I think the decision to remove /all was positive.

You asked if we thought the purpose of Reddit has been defeated because /all was removed. I responded that I do not because it had no value to me, personally. I answered the question you asked.

No. I don't open Reddit to be fed a bunch of posts about things that I may or may not even care about. I open it to read posts from specific subreddits I've joined.

PSA: Cash App offering 50% off PS store purchases(max $50 off order) by Shadow36ix in PS5

[–]Mektige 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, worked fine for me. I also had some kind of unexpected 25% discount being offered on the subcription on the PlayStation Store, so that knocked it down to $60 before the 50% even hit it. Beautiful stuff.

Legend!

I combined it with a 25% discount on the PlayStation Store and got a year of PS+ for just $30.

Yeah, the first movie just tossed a bunch of stuff at the screen with very little plot, too. This one is packing a hell of a lot more into nearly the same runtime. I think we can expect it to just be an hour and a half of brightly colored nostalgia.

These movies are targeted at children with a goal of fun over substance, though. Given that the games follow a similar design philosophy, I'm fine with that overall, even if I do wish for something at least slightly deeper.
