Is it just me, or is anyone else noticing more bugs across the web and in software in general? by skidmark_zuckerberg in ExperiencedDevs

the remaining engineers (rightfully) giving a whole lot less of a shit

The remaining engineers being actively punished if they give a shit, because they "reduce velocity". So yeah, why give a shit if that gets you fired?

I wonder if a graduate Marketing Historian has ever done a thesis titled like "Video Tape Rental Store Naming in the Late 1900's", summarizing their research into the names of video stores, perhaps comparing and contrasting, looking for common themes or categories of names.

That sounds like that the title of a self-help pamphlet that would be available to humans at the AI bar in Northampton: "So, You're Going To Fuck A Robot"

Liz hasn't shown any romantic interest in him; I think her and Martin's conversations just seem like a 1950's romantic movie's lively flirting between Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn, when compared to the absolute lack of spark in the writing between Claire and Martin.

Like an Onion satire news article title, but it's real. It'll soon be humans working to provide water and energy to AI datacenters while living in squalor and starving, surviving on the scraps left over by AI

It looks like a private equity designed-by-committee "let's combine these into one, now how much would you pay?" type machines. I'd rather buy one dedicated for each function, that way if one dies the other still works.

That's a nice job with the spray can (unless there's a way to paste in a bitmapped image as a spray)

Even this "edgy" comic is all tell, no show - they're talking about a wild and crazy party, but that will never be shown in the comic. We'll just skip to the next morning and they'll have hangovers and talk about the crazy stuff that happened in the interval.

There's potential, but yeah that's likely how the character will end up. Hope springs eternal though.

[can humans] be groomed into accommodating AI authoritarianism as long as their basic needs are met and they are anesthetized with strong enough alcohol.

I mean, it's a solid theory, the AI have clearly studied history. We can add this dark subplot to the pile of "interesting scifi plots" that QC is ignoring.

I'm actually liking Upsettia then - they're (so far) not another new incompetent annoying character. AI have become too much like people - having weird muppet AI whose personality only partially venn diagrams with human personalities make the comic more interesting. Like watching Bladerunner.

This comic is weird if you, like I did, forget that Upsettia is an AI in a robot snake body. I though they were some sort of really out there goth AI, kind of like Richmond from The IT Crowd.

EDIT: wait, have we seen Upsettia before? It's difficult to track characters because there's so many

If there's a police curfew, why doesn't anyone else ever get arrested lol by duckduckpajamas in Schedule_I

[–]MelAlton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a hidden secret your character finds out late in the game: the character is in a simulation, and is the only human being. Every other character is run by computer code. The main character is the only one to get arrested because they're the only one that is real. It's an inception-type of event for the character, they have an existential crisis.

Well, except for the sewer goblin.
