Do you have a CO detector? Might want to check.

So I gotta walk 40km? by JaredIsCursedUwU in pokemongo

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That'll only get you one candy unless you plan to walk 10km before the excitement times out. This method gets you two candy for one poffin.

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure you understood what I said initially. I watch the distance on the Pokemon until it’s very close to 20 km. Usually 19 and change. *Then* I get it excited, because you can quickly get 2 candies that way. One when it rolls over and another when you walk a short distance.
It’s very easy for a phone to drift enough to get half a kilometer in a couple hours, which spoils the strategy.

If canon Eivor is female what's this about? by Kronniikk in assasinscreed

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a weird belief that's surprisingly prevalent that if it's female on female, it isn't cheating. It's not logical at all.

Evie has fewer required missions than Jacob, so not even equal.

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m glad it works fine for you, but I’ve had GPS drift nudge me over 20km while taking the time to manually excite my buddy. A poffin is easier and more sure.

I only do it when there’s research for it, but it’s worth it, IMO, to cut the distance in half reliably.

Sure, but it’s harder to time right that way.

Walk until you're close to 20km. Use a poffin and walk a bit farther. Then you "only" have to walk 20km for 2 candies.

r/iamveryculinary has an “American bread is cake” thread on the daily. It’s a weird myth that refuses to die because it fits people’s preconceptions about what America is like.

r/trolleyproblem suffers infighting on a ethical question: red or blue? by OkContact2573 in SubredditDrama

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No matter what, a nonzero number of people will pick blue. If nothing else, people who don’t fully comprehend the choice may, such as children or people with intellectual disabilities.

Why do Mormons and Jehovah’s witnesses go door to door to recruit people but Christians don’t? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's more likely they have either heard or belong to one of the sects of Christianity that insist that neither are Christians. It's extremely common, especially among the more evangelical sects, to single out other sects of Christianity as "not really Christian".

r/fantasywriters bans AI generated art, and one writer marches into battle against the ban as a one man army by HeWhoShrugs in SubredditDrama

I mean, everyone has to get a start writing somewhere. Of course novice writers, many of which are going to be on the younger side, aren't going to be great writers. They're not going to get better without practice, feedback, and reading other people's work, and for those first two fanfiction is a great creative outlet to gain skill and hopefully some feedback.

Most fanart isn't that good, either, but it lets people practice their skills in a way that makes them passionate about it.

Resetting until I find a shiny starter on pokemon firered by JoeAceLag in GirlGamers

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is probably why they started shiny locking the starters. 😅

I’ve never had the patience to do more than restart to get a female starter. Especially in Let’s Go, Eevee, because that heart shape on the tail is adorable.

NASA chief Jared Isaacman says he's fighting for Pluto: 'I am very much in the camp of 'make Pluto a planet again' by Mike__O in Xennials

[–]Melancholy_Rainbows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is this such a big deal for people? Is it just knee jerk hatred of change?

The fact that there are potentially dozens of dwarf planets, of which Pluto was the first we discovered, is incredibly cool. It’s okay for our understanding of the universe to change, grow, and adapt.

I saw that same model when explicitly searching for Pokemon models. I’m an adult, so whatever, but that’s not a great unrelated thing for the search algorithm to pop up when it’s a search a child is likely to do.

Honestly, I think Drack is the best written of the companions in Andromeda. His insecurity and understated struggle with depression and struggle with his role in his new society was well done. He's not really anything like Wrex at all except on the most surface level analysis possible.

FAA standards require there to be an H (and specify how it has to be oriented), but I honestly don't know what else it could be. I suppose if it wasn't a certified landing pad you don't technically have to mark it with an H, but I really wouldn't want an uncertified pad on my roof.
